Treating him like Radulov might not be a bad idea.

By the rules, I think he should go to the first bidder as he has no NHL experience (really, no different then someone like Victor Fasth). Although, if CG wants to put 9.99/3yr offer for him then I'm all for that.
He wont really have much of a rating and cant be placed in the minors without going through waivers (based on age) so he has little immediate positive impact that would warrant a special case in my books.

Well, with Feaster basically saying that he'll be a top 6 forward, it makes it a little different from the other non NHL free agent prospects. It also didn't help that there was very little notice about his signing with a team or even rumour that he would sign with a team in the NHL. Basically if you just happened to be online at the right time you get a young top 6 forward for 3 years at 750K.
Doesn't matter to me either way though.

IMO all free agents should now wait until Free Agency period. It not only adds to our FA pool but it gives teams equal opportunity to get the player at least. Instead of making an exception for Radulov, just make Free Agency even better by having them all available then.

That's an interesting idea. Puts the onus on the league to decide if a player should be a 'batch player' or a 'non-batch' player. Would give the same chance to everyone for players of potential significance.

I can get behind that.

I think in this case he has to go to the first bidder, since he wasn't in the db before and had no NHL experience.

Bump.
Not sure if people found this useful when it was a sticky or not, but ufa signings have come up in a couple threads of late so I thought I'd suggest this again. Reminder that posting in this thread doesn't make anything official, but is intended to help reduce duplicate signing requests for gms and the league.

Sure, we'll sticky it again. Good idea.
Keep in mind folks, we don't process ufa's daily - they are done one or two times a week. Teams should have call-up depth ready to deal with line-up changes. Don't rely on signing a free agent, and expect to see him on your roster within a day.

I just noticed Curtis McKenzie showed up on my roster, I don't know where he came from but I'm sure I never signed him.
