That would encourage women to join the league, though.

No kidding. I think it's the only way it works.
Sounds like a good way to burn money otherwise.

They definitely would need to address the possession style game, by adding the shot clock, or over and back etc. When 3 on 3 is played with the pace of back and forth it is unbelievable to watch. When they skate the puck around for 2.5 minutes passing back to the goalie and making like changes not so much.
I always thought someone with money needed to start a 3v3 or 4v4 league the lockout year, would have made it so much easier for people to get into, without NHL to watch.

The only way this is good is if they can buyout contracts of existing NHL players with terrible contracts such as Huberdeau, who has name recognition.
They did that in soccer by buying players past their prime and over paying the club and player to play in the Saudi league.
Quebec City Nordiques featuring Huberdeau, Gaudreau and Dubois lmao

There's huge differences between the business models of the PGA and the NHL which makes a LIV scenario much easier for golf.

Personally I don't think I have any interest in watching 24min of keep away, regardless of who's getting paid millions to do it.
They'll likely add some gimmicks to try to build some hype. Not sure there's much that'll move the needle for me.
Sure, they'll steal some current NHLers or some prospects who are chasing the dollar. But my guess is this doesn't last for more than a couple years anyway.

Three-on-three is literally one of my least things about the NHL these days. The only thing worse is the shoot out. Maybe that will be the next league they start up.

I never heard of SA sportswashing before. I Googled it and read up a little about it, but I still don't get it. Apparently SA is trying to prepare their economy for post-oil, so they are investing in sports. They said it will create job opportunities in SA somehow? Are they assuming that if they pour enough money into it, it doesn't matter if it makes money now, but only only by the time the oil runs out?
It's confusing to me. It sounds like the underwear gnome business model.

I've always understood it as SA using major sporting events and leagues as a means to change the perception of the Regime, which is mostly known for Oil, Slavery and corruption.

Saw this from Dangle on xitter. Watched him ramble on for a few mins and immediately felt like I was watching an April fools joke.
This whole thing sounds ridiculous.

Highest all time GPG among all players who've played more than 1 game?
Edit: Maybe not, could have been some players who had multiple goals in one game and no goals in at least one game.

They have also spent tons of effort on tourism attractions. They need that to survive.
