VR tech will always be limited unless it somehow interacts with the human brain. How do you replicate complex combinations of smells caused by open spaces? the feeling of wind? The taste of whiskey?
Assuming you were able to get to a point where you could make graphics and sound indiscernible from reality, that's only 2 senses of 5.

There's a nice touch in the pilot that's lifted directly out Jurassic Park (the novel), where Wu tries to convince Hammond that they made dinosaurs that are 'too real' and that maybe they should try to create something more in line with audience expectations than 'reality'.
Hopkins and Hammond are equally unconvinced.
Really curious to see where this goes.

OK first episode... It ended much better than it began.
One thing I can't figure out: the Hosts can shoot each other easily and realistically, but they can't harm the Guests. This was shown where Teddy's shots can't harm Ed Harris' man in black. If it's not VR, but real life with androids, how does that work? It looked like Teddy was firing, but the bullets were doing no damage
While I'm at it: Teddy is a terrible name for any lead male character who's not an overweight loafer.

Wait, I don't understand. The technology in a fictional future of our own reality in the show, which is set ahead of our own technological progression, is something that doesn't align with our current understanding of physics and technology. They've only had the pilot and explained nothing. What's the deal?

Heads up. Second episode released early because of conflicts with the presidential debates.

HBO has released the second episode of Westworld two days ahead of its scheduled premiere this Sunday. The episode, titled "Chestnut," is now available to watch on HBO Now, HBO Go, and HBO On Demand.

So you just like the wizard did it explanation and move on? I kind of personally like things to have consistent logic.
To me it doesn't make sense that anyone would have a real gun. You wouldn't want the guest to accidently shoot each other and if you can build a lifelike robot you should be able fake gunshot wounds in them. Plus fake gunshot wounds qould be easier to fix that actual holes in them. Now say someone smuggled real guns in there, now that gets interesting.

How about you wait for more than one episode and maybe they'll explain it.

Second episode is fantastic. Lots of setups for some philosophical and complex moral questions being explored here. Thought this one was much better than the first episode and that one was pretty good already.

It was a 'tongue firmly planted in cheek' type of comment, but if you would rather be serious I would say we pump the brakes a bit and see what is revealed in this fairly deep world beyond a 65 minute premier.

I'm not assuming anything. It could turn out to be awesome and make sense.
I guess i'm just not convinced it's going to be worth watching any more episodes.
