Grosmann in means the Flames are trying to beat the Kings at their own game.
Not a good idea.
Just use a speedy lineup, and the Kings won't be able to matchup.
At least that's what I think,

We should definitely be able to take advantage of Budaj in net. There's also a distinct lack of finish in the Kings' forward ranks so the Flames should have a good chance to win tonight.

I'm excited to see how this top line of Gaudreau, Bennett and Brouwer play, if that's what happens tonight. I have been thinking for a while that Gaudreau and Brouwer should give it a try on the same line. I also wouldn't mind seeing Backlund get in the middle of those two.

There has been a pretty distinct lack of finish in the Flames' forward ranks as well. I think the line shakeup will have some immediate effects though tonight.

3-1 game tonight.
Backlund, Gaudreau and Brouwer.
Johnny will break out, Monahan won't.

I saw the forward lines and thought 'Glen must read CP'. Then I saw the D pairings and no longer thought that.

Whoa there.
Grossmann can at least kill a penalty.

Excited to see what the Gaudreau Bennett Brouwer line ends up doing. I think that could be fun.

This worked last game:
I don't have much to add except for this: Lance Bouma will score a goal tonight. I'm nearly 100% sure it will happen.

Gaudreau's breakout game. It'll be a beauty.

After this road trip, and with the injury to Versteeg, I wouldn't mind a third line of Shinkaruk-Monahan-Chiasson. I think that as a third line could wreck some opponents.
Edit : seconds after I write this Shinkaruk is up. Bet we see this tonight or soon. I like the look of all lines with Shinkaruk third and Ferland back with Stajan.

Agree with the line juggling... though I'm certain Johnny and Monahan will get reunited at some point. Would love to see someone else on right wing with them when they are together. While gaudreau and Monahan have not been themselves lately... the play dies nearly every time chaisson gets the puck in the offensive zone. Would love to see ferland on that right wing as he has been fantastic so far this year.

Agree with a shakeup of the forward lines, but Brouwer should have been tried with Monahan and Gaudreau before splitting them up.

If Bennett-Brouwer was the duo that was working, why split them up? The lines as they are set tonight actually make a lot of sense.
If Johnny-Bennett have some chemistry, then having Monahan on another line really makes Calgary much more of an offensive threat. Also, Bennett and Brouwer can keep other teams honest when playing Johnny.
Excelsior!

I posted these exact forward line combos (Gaudreau with Bennett and Brouwer, keeping Backlund and Frolik together, and a third line of Ferland, Monahan and Chaisson) after the Blackhawks loss and again after the win in San Jose. If it works I'm totally taking credit for it

Bennett-Brouwer is the combo that has worked (kind of) for the last 30 seconds. Gaudreau and Monahan have demonstrated they work for two seasons.

This is actually a big game standings-wise.
I really hope the Flames win.
They're going to lose in Anaheim, so this is essentially a must-win. Can't have another 2 game losing streak. Both games are against divisional opponents.
Since Quick is out and the Kings have scoring problems, I can see the Flames winning this one.
