Its not a problem with the market, its just reality, how many Flames fans would skip watching them in a playoff game to see the farm team?

The schedule people in the AHL really dropped the ball when they set it up for every game to land on the same night as a Canuck playoff game.

Its too bad for us Abbotsford folk because the revenue would have been very good to offset the bills....
i agree totally, they got hosed, and you can only expect so much out of fans in that area.

i was just trying to note that playoff attendance generally sucks for the ahl, so it might not be the best regardless of the canucks schedule.

Heat are up 3-0 after the first. Backlund is on an absolute tear playing every second shift and seems to be uncontainable.

Regardless of what happens, it's awesome to see Backlund and Sutter both with two assists. It's nice to see those boys playing a key role with the Heat. Now if only Wahl can get on the scoreboard too.

Abby up 4-1 now. Backlund should have 3 assists and is a plus 3 on the night so far on the night after 2 periods. He has assisted on 3 different players goals. Rheault, Jaffray and Van der Gulik. Sutter with assists on both of Rheaults goals and is a +2 on the night.

Its interesting how both players responded after some time with the big club.

Hopefully they can both move up for a full-time role next year.

Along with that, I think this just shows how important it is to get everyone on the farm some NHL playing experience. Even if they're not ready for full-time yet.

Sutter seriously needs to be centering a line if he is with the Flames. He is always way more productive at that position.

I think he'd be a great replacement for Conroy should Conroy retire.

If they don't have Sutter centering the third line (which I definitely think he is capable of), he should be the center on the fourth line, not Nystrom. Sutter is good on draws, very defensively sound, and just looks more involved as a centerman.

No way should Sutter be the starting spot for 3rd line. If he makes the ump its as a 4th line forward. IMO, I hope its at center as he appears most comfortable as center.

Langkow
Stajan
Backlund
Sutter and Nystrom as a bottom 6 winger

OR Langkow is moved out and you could have:
Stajan
Backlund
Nystrom
Sutter

All depends where management sees backlund, is he ready for top 6?

Maybe, but I feel that Sutter is a better player than Nystrom. In the long run that is.
