Horak played well tonight, physical, hard on the puck, good work along the boards. Carson looked pretty good not overly physical, but steady, did a good job keeping players to the outside and away from the net.
Even P3L played well very physical, strong, good speed, kept up to the play well. He and Ivanans were very intimidating tonight.

There are three teams in the Heat's division (including them) with more points than ANY team in the entire Eastern conference. They sit fifth in the West, would be first in the East.
Having Ivanans and PL3 out there together is like the Heat's very own Bash Brothers, would be fun to watch! Then also having Desbiens out there tonight, Heat were looking to intimidate!

It was pretty fun to watch! Taylor played fantastic as well, looked like Miikka out there. Thought Nemisz looked great too, can't wait to see him in a Flames sweater tonight.
Meh. When he's in, he plays like a regular old tough guy. Nothing special. He usually plays against division rivals to add a physical, intimidating presence.
I actually think P3L will do a better job of that. Just a feeling.
He has a a goal, two assists, and a fight in 10 games.

Danny Taylor in goal.
3-0 this week since joining Heat. Figures big again, in Saturday's win vs. Lake Erie.
Has allowed 2 goals on 87 shots. Yep.
Notched one shutout.
Added one assist.

I see that Horak was sent down (even though he had a some pretty decent numbers on an offensively challenges Flames club). He and Howse play very well together and it looks like Ryan is starting to get some shots on net.
You can't score if the puck isn't getting on net...so I think Roman will help Ryan get back on track and you will see what us Chilli fans got the pleasure of watching for 5 seasons.
Heat with ANOTHER win! I was watching the big club so I didn't get a chance to listen in, but I have to hand it to Troy Ward, he's exactly what this organization needed. Glad they gave him the head coaching job.
True, but to be fair, it was a shot from Bouma (I think) that deflected off his knee. Little skill needed there.
His latest assist to Sylvester the other night was really nice though.
You decide.
Heat highlight packs are awesome as well, that was a sweet a good play and Slyvester might have what it takes as a small guy looking to make it to the NHL. http://youtu.be/2VkMrmffkfs?hd=1&t=26s
Anyway I think it's kind of cool that the Flames are doing well enough that they can pay for 2 tough guys in the AHL on 1-way deals [which means Abby doesn't pay jack].
Leblond 550k [Cap hit 525k]
Ivanans 600k
Both in the final year of multi-year deals [2 for Leblond and 3 for Ivanans]
That's 2 roster spots and 1.15k [1.125k in cap hit] in salary buried in the minors. Certainly wouldn't be possible even 15 years ago with the dollar situation.
Personally, I'd prefer both Ivanans and Leblond up as 13th and 14th roster spots since they're one way and this team has 14 one-way deals, but that's just me. I like toughness but it seems to be disappearing this year [Jackman's a middleweight so don't give me that].

Yeah, I didn't actually see the play where Ivanans scored, only listened to it on the radio and Pinder said it deflected off his knee.
I agree with you about the two tough guys playing on the fourth line. I was skeptical at first because I thought they'd be a defensive liability, but that hasn't been the case. In fact, they've been awesome at shifting momentum through their physical play and evidently chipping in a few goals haha.

Leblond is definetly done in the NHL but do you think Raitis might get recalled at some point?

No one can be certain, but I wouldn't say either player is done in the NHL.
I would actually say P3L stands a better chance of claiming a 13th or 14th forward spot in the NHL due only to the fact that he's younger (26) as opposed Raitis who's 32.
But who knows, maybe they're willing to give Ivanans a second shot next season.
Heat signed Russ Sinkewich to a professional try-out contract. Seems like a temporary move though to insure the team has 6 defensemen and isn't shorthanded on the back end. Martin is out till after the Christmas and with Carson's conditioning stint over the Heat were left shorthanded.
I wonder if the Flames send Piskula back down to help, especially if he's just going to be in the press box now with Carson back.

Sinkewich has played a game or two for the Heat last year when there were so many injuries. I can't really comment on his play though because he played so few games. His numbers suggest he's pretty good defensively though.
If anyone lives in or around Abbotsford, there's a really good deal happening this weekend.
If you bring a teddy bear (or several teddy bears) and register them at section 101 on Friday or Sunday's game, you will get a free ticket to the game on March 7th versus the Houston Aeros.
The teddy bear toss is during the Sunday game, but you can still bring your teddy bears to the game on Friday and the Heat staff will toss them for you.
