Well, the Flames won. They were pretty bad in the first period but quite after that. They were good defensively tonight and easily their best effort in this regard so far this season. And they got actual NHL goaltending for all 60 minutes so that's a first this season.
Stajan, the only center on the team, played extremely well. Ridiculously, he has become the most important player.
Bouwmeester was incredible tonight and dominated. Thought Giordano was also very good.
Thought Krudey said it well that most Flames players were good tonight. I know the fourth line only got a couple shifts and that is a good thing because they are very very bad especially compared to some pretty 4th line players on Minnesota in Rupp and Konopka. The top nine was good though. Comeau gets a lot of heat and it's pretty much all deserved but he had a very solid game in all three zones. Any sort of offensive contributions are never going to come, but he worked hard and was a presence defensively for sure.
I continue to be completely baffled that the guy in charge of this team is allowing one center to play and three guys out of position in the middle. It's unprecedented really at any level and indicative of some guys running the organization really not understanding the dynamics of this sport. This is a desperate situation and I cannot believe help in some form hasn't been brought in - actually, all that has happened is an actual living, breathing NHL center was sent down.
Anyways, the Flames are hanging around and it would sure be nice to take one from Phoenix tomorrow. Iginla is playing better and better so have to expect he will start producing soon and Baertschi is definitely going to be producing as well. The biggest positive is that this team is 6-7-3 and their two best players have contributed nothing so it could be a whole lot worse.

The correlation between my enjoyment of Flames games and the number of times the red light flashes behind the opposing netminder in excess of the number of times the one behind the Flames netminder continues.
They should do a study.

It was accidental and the two points was more important. If the Flames take a retaliation penalty and lose the game because of it we are all bitching about them losing.

What if they took an extra penalty and lost? This team can't be throwing away points.

I'm happy about the win, but it's sad that I totally forgot that the players skate to center ice and acknowledge the crowd after a win... Guess I didn't remember the home winning ritual due to the lack of winning lately

Yah I guess zucker forgot where a goalie stands. This team needs size, and heart. Push back once in a while.

Ok fine. Goon Lombardi is going to knock Macdonald out of the game with an elbow to the head. Why not? we won't touch him.

Probably Stajan's best game of the year.

Nothing they're saying is wrong. Our team is soft and bad; the Wild came in and played softer and worse.

You would never guess that CBC is a Canadian broadcaster. Just talking about Minnesota Wild in the post game panel. what a joke.
And then they are excusing Minnesota's "lack of effort" because Minnesota doesn't expect to lose to a team "like Calgary".
What pathetic broadcasting.

Iginla had a pretty solid game as well, but think his defensive game could have been better.
