Harvard fell behind 4-0 after 2 periods last night. They scored a couple in the third, but weren't able to make up the difference and lost 4-2. Their record is now 2-4-0.
Fox had an assist. He also had 5 shots, which was tied with Donato for the most in the game (by either team).
Harvard plays Minnesota one more time tonight, at 6:00pm MT. The game is supposed to be streamed on TSN-Go, but given their track record, it's a 50/50 chance it will actually be there.

Harvard was badly outshot in today's game. They had 16 shots in the game, Minnesota had 16 shots each period.
Somehow, they took a 1-0 lead into the third period, but gave up the tying goal with just over 5 minutes left, and a PP goal in OT, to lose 2-1.
Another close loss, but a loss still the same. Their record now falls to 2-5-0 (no OTL in the NCAA). They seem to be playing better than their record indicates, but they keep losing close ones.
No points for Fox.

1g + 1a last night against the US NTDP and named 2nd star.
17gp 6g 4a 10pts
At first glance those numbers aren't good. He is about to turn 20 years old, 6'4'', and close to 200lbs. He should be dominating the USHL as an older bigger player.
However some positives: aside from the first 6 games of the season, he has 10pts in his last 11 games. So maybe just a bad start to the season.

I'm about to turn this "he's played okay but not great" post into a "I didn't know he's actually played that good" post.
Mattson's stats aren't the greatest but when you dig deeper in, they start to look very good. Before we start, just note that Mattson doesn't play on the PP for some reason, which effects his stats.
In terms of 5v5 play (the best area to judge a players' ability on), Mattson ranks as follows (among all USHL forwards):
*Points: 10 (tied for 6th)
*Goals: 6 (tied for 5th)
*Primary Points: (tied for 9th)
Primary Points Per 60 Minutes: 2.18 (14th)
Relative Goals For %: 22.42% (18th)
* every player ranked ahead of him averages more even strength time on ice per game than Mattson.
You're welcome

That's encouraging, but he's a 19 year old in a 17/18 year old's league. Not expecting even a good AHLer out of him but maybe he surprises. Craig Button was super high on him pre-draft, I wonder what he had seen.

FWIW Conroy seemed pretty confident that the Flames would be able to get Fox signed when asked about it on 960.
Said Fox enjoys the development camps and likes the city. Also said development coach Ray Edwards has done a good job with him.
Note: he didn't actually say anything about when they would sign him though (i.e. if it will be this year)
Also is friends with Tkachuk and Parsons from the USDP, I won't worry about him signing until he decides to stay for his senior year. Think the Flames will push hard to get him signed after this year.
Stockton could really use Adam Fox next season. With the expected graduation of Andersson, and 1 of Kylington or Wotherspoon (IMO, Spoon is gone this summer) doing spot duty on the NHL club during injuries, that leaves a lot of opportunity for Fox and Valimaki to log some top 4 minutes on that club.
