Harvard fell behind 4-0 after 2 periods last night. They scored a couple in the third, but weren't able to make up the difference and lost 4-2. Their record is now 2-4-0.

Fox had an assist. He also had 5 shots, which was tied with Donato for the most in the game (by either team).

Harvard plays Minnesota one more time tonight, at 6:00pm MT. The game is supposed to be streamed on TSN-Go, but given their track record, it's a 50/50 chance it will actually be there.

Harvard was badly outshot in today's game. They had 16 shots in the game, Minnesota had 16 shots each period.

Somehow, they took a 1-0 lead into the third period, but gave up the tying goal with just over 5 minutes left, and a PP goal in OT, to lose 2-1.

Another close loss, but a loss still the same. Their record now falls to 2-5-0 (no OTL in the NCAA). They seem to be playing better than their record indicates, but they keep losing close ones.

No points for Fox.

Harvard vs BC streaming right now on TSNGo: http://www.tsn.ca/live#/TSN1 or ESPN3 if you have it.

Tied 2-2 halfway through the 2nd. Fox no points.

4-4 OT Final. No points for Fox.

I think this is the first BC game I've watched since Johnny left. I forgot what huge homers their announcers are.

Mitchell Mattson update:

1g + 1a last night against the US NTDP and named 2nd star.

17gp 6g 4a 10pts

At first glance those numbers aren't good. He is about to turn 20 years old, 6'4'', and close to 200lbs. He should be dominating the USHL as an older bigger player.

However some positives: aside from the first 6 games of the season, he has 10pts in his last 11 games. So maybe just a bad start to the season.

I'm about to turn this "he's played okay but not great" post into a "I didn't know he's actually played that good" post.

Mattson's stats aren't the greatest but when you dig deeper in, they start to look very good. Before we start, just note that Mattson doesn't play on the PP for some reason, which effects his stats.

In terms of 5v5 play (the best area to judge a players' ability on), Mattson ranks as follows (among all USHL forwards):

*Points: 10 (tied for 6th)
*Goals: 6 (tied for 5th)
*Primary Points: (tied for 9th)
Primary Points Per 60 Minutes: 2.18 (14th)
Relative Goals For %: 22.42% (18th)

* every player ranked ahead of him averages more even strength time on ice per game than Mattson.

You're welcome

That's encouraging, but he's a 19 year old in a 17/18 year old's league. Not expecting even a good AHLer out of him but maybe he surprises. Craig Button was super high on him pre-draft, I wonder what he had seen.

Harvard finally busted out of its funk on Friday night. They defeated Quinnipiac 6-2. Fox had 1 assist.

Tomorrow night, they visit Princeton for their final game before Christmas (and the World Jrs).

Fox finally scored a goal and it was called back on a Too Many Men penalty.

Harvard leads 4-1 after 2. Fox has one assist.

It looks like they're finally finding their groove, just in time to go into a 4 week break.

The final score last night was 5-2. Fox finished with one assist. He now has 9 assists in 10 games (6 of them on the PP).

Fox will miss a minimum of 2 games while at the World Jrs. Depending on how well Team USA does, he could miss up to 4.

Looks like UND and Mattson have parted ways.

Michigan State's last connection to the Flames was former prospect Matt Deblouw

Interesting. 11 points in 22 games as a 19 year-old in the USHL this year.

Speaking of DeBlouw, I noticed he scored against the Flames' affiliate a couple of weeks ago in the ECHL. So, he's still kicking around.

Looks like Fox is taking a well deserved break. Not dressed in today's Harvard game.

Last year he played the next day after winning Gold at the WJC.

Of course this year is slightly different as he played quite a bit more than last year.

Fox had 1a and hit the post in his first game back from the WJ. Nice cross ice pass starts around the 1:38 mark:

Now up to 0g 10a in 11 games.

After being part of phase I last season, Adam Fox is not in the phase I of the Hobey Baker selection process this year.

FWIW Conroy seemed pretty confident that the Flames would be able to get Fox signed when asked about it on 960.

Said Fox enjoys the development camps and likes the city. Also said development coach Ray Edwards has done a good job with him.

Note: he didn't actually say anything about when they would sign him though (i.e. if it will be this year)

Also is friends with Tkachuk and Parsons from the USDP, I won't worry about him signing until he decides to stay for his senior year. Think the Flames will push hard to get him signed after this year.

Stockton could really use Adam Fox next season. With the expected graduation of Andersson, and 1 of Kylington or Wotherspoon (IMO, Spoon is gone this summer) doing spot duty on the NHL club during injuries, that leaves a lot of opportunity for Fox and Valimaki to log some top 4 minutes on that club.

Valimaki is AHL eligible next season, right?
