I guess never say never, but I think the Flames would essentially have to be gutted entirely to be that bad to draft McKenna. Even if they were to trade Markstrom, Wolf in my opinion is not that much of a drop-off. If Andersson and Weegar are still here (and the young prospect Hunter Brzustewicz pans out and is a regular defenseman), that's half of your defense corps.
Barring a significant injury, McKenna will likely go top 2 in his draft year, Flames have never drafted that high (we don't have that kind of luck lol).

Told be a WHL source that the consensus top prospect for the upcoming WHL Bantam draft in May, Landon DuPont, is considering joining the BCHL’s Brooks Bandits rather than whichever WHL team drafts him.
There is belief he could be leveraging this to earn exceptional status. In all seriousness I can't see how Dupont getting exceptional status isn't already a slam dunk for Hockey Canada. Nonetheless big news/something to watch.

So he could play in the BCHL at his current age? Honest question, I don't know if they have age rules.

The “exceptional status” rule does not apply to the BCHL. He could play now as there is no set age to play in the league.

Good game in Medicine Hat last might between the Blades and Tigers. Medicine Hat scored a late 3rd period goal to force OT, but the Blades won it in OT. Pretty likely these two teams clash again in the playoffs.

Gavin McKenna with another 4 point game (3G, 1A) as the Tigers win a shootout 9-7 over the Edmonton Oil Kings. Joe Iginla had 2 goals for the Oil Kings.

Speedy Creek wins both ends of the back-to-back versus the Tigers this past weekend. They really seem to have their number this season (Saturday night's game did go to OT).

Yeah, the Tigers were missing Weisblatt and Smith, to go along with usual Lindstrom and Boehm. That's a lot of fire power missing but Swift has been cruising lately and are now just three points behind the Tigers for 1st in the division with a game in hand.

Tigers stumbling down the stretch and lose a tough one in Saskatoon 3-1 to the Blades. Swift Current still has a chance for the Central Division crown.

Tigers have been basically a .500 team since losing Lindstrom, and that's with McKenna scoring at a historical pace for a 16 year old.
I think Lindstrom will be back for the playoffs so they will get a boost if that happens.

What a total team effort by the Tigers last night seeing they had more D (8) than forwards (7) dressed in their win against Swift Current. That's crazy!
The CSSHL season ends this weekend so they'll have reinforcements coming to deal with the injuries.

Swift Current clinches the Central Division title with their win over Red Deer earlier tonight. That means the Tigers and Rebels will face each other in the opening round of the playoffs in the #4 vs. #5 seed clash.

Tigers went 4-2-0 (8 of 12 points) vs Red Deer, while Red Deer was 2-2-2 (6 of 12 points)
Hopefully the Tigers get Lindstrom back for this.

Looks like Everett is losing their GM and HC Dennis Williams to Bowling Green: difficult timing with WHL playoffs and the draft lottery tomorrow (they have Kamloops pick who finished last).

He's leaving now or after the playoffs are over? I mean, it HAS to be after the playoffs right?

i haven't really kept up on the Hitmen for quite some time. they seem like an average team most years, not horrible but not elite, similar to the flames i suppose. How are they looking going forward, do they have some high end picks ready to make the next step to the WHL? it would be nice to see them compete for the WHL title and memorial cup at some point. Thanks
