Deluxe is not SE store exclusive, just the 1st Class. Deluxe up at Amazon.COM
Looks like it's either sold out or only on a place holder atm. Hopefully I can get one of the pitifully few copies that will end up on a Canadian store - or a restock on amazon.com. Because as much as I'd like to get the Deluxe edition, there's just no way I can support SE's price gouging.
COMMENCE ONLINE NECKBEARD DEBATE ABOUT WHETHER TIFA'S BOOBS ARE BIG ENOUGH

First time I played it, I think Midgar probably took me 15 hours... but then again I was like 12.
I get that everything they've showed so far is Midgar, but are we sure that's all that's in the first part? The original game had 3 discs, I figured they'd deal with this the same way. Although I guess that would leave disc 3 a little short.
Sort of funny that if you want the full deluxe edition of the game you're going to end up spending $1500. On the other hand, I did tell them to shut up and take my money, so I'm not sure I have a right to complain.

In the presentation last night the producer said that it was focusing on Midgar and expanding the story of it. Seems easy enough to do given that we didn't see a whole lot of Midgar in VII originally, but it was expanded on in games like Crisis Core. There's a lot of story bits they can add there before moving out into the greater world.
It's going to be harder to separate the open world portion of the game into parts if they intend to leave it open world. IIRC disc 3 of the original game was mostly data for the final area but that would be hard to justify as a whole part.
(I'm glad they went the new Lara Croft way and fixed Tifa's boobs )
They could put a bunch of the sidequests and completionist stuff in part 3 as well, I guess, if that is being included for fan service purposes... But I'm fine with making Midgar a bigger thing because I like the way Midgar works as a confined locale that allows them to build the world before you go out and explore it.
I'm also curious about whether the open world aspect will be a thing. I suspect it will because other than combat there has been a lot of faithfulness to the original shown so far in these trailers.

Wait, is there going to be a boobgate complaint going around the internet now?
But yeah, pretty sure it's confirmed as a portion of the original game. More to come.
A spectacular re-imagining of one of the most visionary games ever, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE rebuilds the legendary RPG for today.
The first entry in a multi-part saga, delivering a level of depth inconceivable for the original. Mind-blowing story, unforgettable characters, epic battles and technical excellence collide.
The game looks cool so far. I'm not sure about the combat yet. I'm also worried the game will be morphed into a Midgar centric game and the open world will be minimized which sucks as the side quests were the best part of the game. If I can't raise chocobos to get knights of the round materia and fight the Emerald and Ruby weapon the game is a failure. I'm kind of cheesed that they will be releasing it in multiple parts as well.
Eh, the weapons and the chocobo breeding were superfluous to me. The sidequests that actually involved character background were key. Obviously all of Wutai has to be in, but the question for me is whether they do the little stuff like Lucrecia's cave or the whole Zack thing from the mansion (I'm fine if Zack's story is DLC, incidentally - in fact that would be awesome as an expansion).
The thing that made FF7 work so well narratively is that the main story was laid out in disc 1 so that you had to get the central characters' backstories as you chased Sephiroth. First, Corel - we learn about Barrett's history. Then, Cosmo Canyon - learn about Red XIII's history. Then Nibelheim - some Cloud and Tifa intrigue. Then Rocket Town is about Cid. Then you get a whole bunch of Aerith. By the time you get to Bone Village you're pretty well versed in who the characters are. It was a really solid narrative structure that was unique to that game.

I actually agree with this. The game sidequests, while amazing fun, are just sort of there. The Wutai stuff with the Turks, Yuffie and the Pagoda, learning about the war are all great story links to the main story and give us some great character background for some of the less central villains (as well as more Don Corneo).
Do I hope I get to go to the gold saucer and #### around? Sure. Do I hope I get to raise chocobos? Yeah. But it isn't mandatory.
All the strongest materia in the game is available through breeding chocobos. If they take that out of the game it's a big hole and not some nice to have side quest.
I think I'm going to skip it. This is clearly a soft soft soft reboot/remake. Not a remaster which I wanted. I'll probably play the XBOX remaster and be happy with that.

I've been playing the remaster on steam. The game is still so good. On my second playthrough

I agree with this the more I hear about the remake the less I want it
Confirms the cross dressing scene is still there, albeit modernized. Also noted that the "ethics department" at SE suggested re-proportioning Tifa's chest so she wouldn't look ridiculous during action scenes.
They call that black smoke that surrounded Aerith and Cloud the "Watchmen of Fate", but didn't explain how that will all play out.
