Liverpool have given the first indication that Luis Suárez’s future lies away from Anfield by agreeing to open talks with Barcelona over the transfer of the disgraced striker.
The Spanish club have not been deterred in their pursuit of the Uruguay international by the four-month ban from all football-related activities that he received for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup. It is understood a delegation led by Barcelona’s director of football management, Raul Sanllehi, will meet Liverpool’s chief executive, Ian Ayre, in London on Wednesday for the opening round of negotiations over the 27-year-old.
Yeah, he's pretty much gone. Talks appear to be going well and multiple reports that an offer has been tabled ranging from 70-80M sterling.
Good bit of management from Rodgers considering.
Anyone know the criteria for obtaining a work permit in the UK for the PL? I'm referring to Joel Campbell who has been refused one for the last three years yet has been able to play elsewhere in EU on loan (France, Spain and Greece) .
The club has to guarantee a certain number of games or he has to do keepsy upsies in front of immigration?

I'm fairly sure he got a work permit last year before we sent him out on loan (I see that article suggests otherwise). Usually the criteria is that the player plays in a certain percentage of international matches for his country or is an "exceptional talent". And obviously EU citizens are exempted.

If Sanchez chooses Arsenal they make a big push for Shaqiri it seems
Lallana (25), Can (10), Shaqiri/Sanchez (30), Lambert
that's a decent group of replacements
It seems that Arsenal haven't yet offered as much for Sanchez as Liverpool have. I'm really hoping LFC can push through and get him as part of the Suarez deal. That would be a great start in trying to replace what Suarez brings to the team. I'd be happy with Shaqiri too though, he's a great talent.

They're saying the hope is for both. If the talk of the rest of the transfer kitty is true (70m was it, before any Suarez sale talk) and it gets spent wisely, losing a top 3 player in the world might not be so bad!

I'm no economist but here's an analysis of the top 100 tranfer fees in the PL when (PL soccer?) inflation is taken into account. Wages not taken into consideration.
Off the top of my head the top quality players that really stand out as missing are ...... Bale, Viera, Kompany. Schmeichel, Aresnal RvP and the biggest bargain in PL history, Cantona.
SIGN SOMEONE ARSENE! Dear lord, I'm sick of reading different rumors everyday.
With John Cross confirming our interest in Sanchez and Debuchey, things are quite possibly getting serious with those two.

Barcelona's Chile forward seems keen and the Gunners hope to get him for £25million while Newcastle value their France right-back at £10m.
Arsene Wenger is confident of pulling off a £35million double deal for Arsenal targets Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy.
Chile World Cup star Sanchez has indicated he is keen to move to the Gunners and now they must agree a fee with his club, Barcelona.
The Londoners have been in contact with Barca and are hoping a £25m bid will be enough to land the 25-year-old forward.
They have also held talks with Newcastle over a move for their French international right-back Debuchy, who is keen to join a club in the Champions League.
Newcastle would want around £10m for the defender - currently on World Cup duty in Brazil - and Arsenal could face competition for his signature from French champions Paris Saint-Germain and their Ligue 1 rivals Monaco.

will surely take some time to get used to that huge Chevrolet logo on the front ... but hey, it could have been a lot worse. Like Liverpools new third kit, for example.
