That list looks pretty good. Maybe Dickenson goes a little higher. Feels like we need to be top 8.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
Like I said in the other thread(s), if Flames wins lottery draft, Celebrini is a no brainer. If they move to 2nd draft position, take Lindstrom and trade their later 1st in a package to move up to take Iginla. If Flames get 3rd pick and Lindstrom is still available, same thing as before. Once the top 2 centers are gone, take Iginla as early as the 3rd pick. No loss in moving Iginla up in a weak draft year. Flames got a lot of D prospects. Gotta get bigger up the middle.
He absolutely should pull a Lindros when it comes to Arizona. Why on Earth would anyone want to play for that franchise?
I'd almost say, if Iginla is still avaible at 5th spot and Flames pick at 8th the way it stands now, Conroy should package one of the first rounders to the Coyotes. They already have the young Doan in their lineup.
There is a reason guys were pumping his tires the past month.

AZ needs another defenseman way more than another winger, I highly doubt they'd take Iginla.
I really do think he's coming to Calgary. And I think they should move up from the VAN pick to get one of the secondary defenders available.

How you move up from the Van pick, though? That seems like it would be a hefty, hefty price that most teams, historically don't pay.
Somewhat recent precedent:
AZ paid 29 + 2 2nds to get pick 11 in 2022
DET paid 23 + 2nd + 5th to get pick 15 in 2021
Would you give up, say, 25 and 2 2nds to move up 10-12 spots?

Did Arizona do that in one move, or two? I can't remember. That's a bargain for Arizona in my opinion - 18 spots for two 2nd round picks. Detroit's price was heftier - a 2nd and a 5th for 8 spots.
I know if I am a team considering trading down, it seems way more palatable dropping down 5 or 6 spots. If they can't find a team willing to trade down far enough, maybe they can do a couple of trade-ups at 5-8 spots a shot until they get there.
I do agree that the Flames should do their best to move up the draft - I do think they find diamonds deep in the draft, but I would rather they go for quality over quantity if possible.
