Ya, someone really messed up on those ones. Odd.
The websites still say Estimated release date: 12/31/2010

Sony should seriously give up on GT5 and just start making GT6.

They missed the deadline for the company that presses the discs out to get the right number in stores on a certain date so it's just a manufacturing delay. The game is supposed to be finished.

Thanks. I actually posted the same thing in post #33 (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpos...6&postcount=33) I was just commenting on how Sony was so sure that it was going to be ready and coming out on the 2nd that even the retailers had the game listed and printed as coming out on the 2nd. Normally delays happen but not so close to the point where the retailers are ready to print the release date in their adds.

I took a trip to Best Buy today to ask about the game. The girl said that it is delayed into January '11 now and they don't even have a specific date yet.

I wouldn't expect Best Buy to know the release date when Sony has yet to even announce it. As far as the world knows it's coming out "this holiday season". Whether it does or not who knows. We'll just have to wait.

If you read the article it states that retailers put placeholder dates on their site because they don't know when it comes out and then towards the end of the article they say it's delayed because the retailer put Jan 1, 2011. They are contradicting themselves. Not the best article that Joystiq has written.

I don't think anyone knows when it's coming out and as the days go on I'm starting to think that Sony doesn't either.

To add to that here's an interesting little blurb:

http://jalopnik.com/5679823/kazunori...ed-as-we-speak

I also request that the original post be changed to "Holiday 2010...maybe".

Okay, so I broke down and bought this:

Porsche 911 Turbo Wheel S (http://www.fanatec.de/html/index.php?id=250&lang) . Cost an arm and a leg but I've always wanted a racing set up.

I have one of these and it is amazing, though you may find fanatec customer support less than helpful if you have issues with your order

Haha, I can't believe you just posted this. I haven't received my order yet but I am having a bit of trouble with them. I ordered the wheel and it shipped fine but I had to make a separate order for the stand. It's been in "processing" for the last week (the wheel shipped the next day) and I've tried to get in contact with them twice using their crappy form on their website and no one has got back to me. They've have charged me so they probably don't care too much.

From what I've been reading if something happens to the wheel it takes almost two weeks for someone to respond to your tech support email. You would think for the price you pay for these things you would get some decent support.

As it stands right now my wheel is through customs and in Richmond, BC and should be here next week. I have no idea where my Rennsport stand is and it's not looking like it'll be here before GT5. I want that piece soon because I don't have anything to attach the wheel to.

FlameOn, any configuration tips for the wheel? Can I just plug it in and go? I'll have to find a Windows XP computer so I can add the new firmware (I have a Mac).

On a side note I changed my pre-order from a Collector's Edition to the regular edition. It doesn't look like you get a lot for the extra $40.

And an FYI, Superstore will have the game for $49.99. It's advertised in their Holiday 2010 book (got it yesterday with the paper, it's coloured red if you're looking for it) so make sure to price match is somewhere where you can pre-order (i.e. pre-order for $10 at Best Buy, you get 800 reward zone points which is $10, when you go pick up the game and pay the difference have them price match it).

GT5 is finally here! Can't wait to buy my 370Z in the game (Fairlady Z)!!!

Also, I think there are a few options in the game to share videos and pictures you take in the picture mode with friends via Youtube and stuff. I would encourage other car nerds, like myself to do so. Back in the GT4 days I actually made a website with the pictures of my cars to show to people.

My name on PSN is CaptainSlow (like James May from Top Gear!) and please free to add me!

This is kind of interesting. Futureshop is advertising a free racing wheel with purchase of the game. Wonder what the catch is.

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...b4aa5f3845en02

Update: It appears the catch is that the wheel is a POS. I wonder if you can return it for store credit.
