wow that has to hurt, hitting the post dead on from 200 feet with 2 seconds left on a shot to tie the records for both goals and points in a game.

For anyone who is interested Backlund was pretty meh this game.

Obviously it was all about Benn with his 4 goal, 5 point night.

Backlund, and his whole line, did a lot of standing around watching the puck.

He did get an assist though.

Agreed. He was far better in game 1. Wasn't too effective in this game. His pass to set up Benn for the PP goal was nice. but other than that he wasn't there offensivly, but still was solid in his own zone.

Flames could have picked Benn, they chose Aulie instead about 10 spots ahead. Nice 5th round pickup by Dallas.

Benn was picked 129th overall, every team could have picked Benn, several times over.

yeah and for once at least there were no questionable picks for the Flames prior...they only had 5 picks that year total, and Backlund, Negrin and Aulie are all progressing in a reasonable fashion

both guys have been impressive in junior in different ways. its hard to tell whether Benn would have been the better pick until they turn pro.
there have been many a great junior scorer that turns into a marginal pro, so i wouldn't say Benn is a better pick just yet...

^Agreed. Both Benn and Aulie are able to impose their will physically on many of the players in junior. Once they fill out, though, Aulie should have a much easier time doing it in the NHL than Benn. Every team wants Benn now, but I doubt the Flames regret picking Aulie over him.

I do enjoy how they allow us to listen to the calls when a questionable goal/non-goal occurs although they seem to be way to casual.

Ref: "Hey we think it's a good goal"
Phone: "Yeah it probably was, point"
Ref: "Alright"

Actually Nemisz having just an awesome game. He's leaving everything out there.
I hope the result shows that.

That play where he knocked Tyler Myers (of all people) off the puck and then drove to the net for two scoring chances was amazing. Hope thats a sign of things to come.

Nemisz was very good tonight. Finally showed what I had been expecting from him. Wasn't afraid to shoot, was physical(knocking Myers down just one example) and I just love how he always goes to the net. Still hoping to see a Windsor/Kelowna final.

Backlund was pretty quiet once again tonight. Really does see the ice well and is responsible at both ends. Offensively though just didn't get much going tonight.

Grantham had a very good first period. Had a good scoring chance and was a physical presense. Even got promoted to the second line for a bit.
