Ron Howard confirmed at Sunday's Oscars that the "Arrested Development" movie was in fact going ahead and that show creator Mitch Hurwitz is in the process of writing the script. (Video of MTV's brief interview with Howard is pasted below.)
Howard also said that he's been asked not to talk about who's in and who's out, which is an obvious reference to long-time hold-out Michael Cera.

He doesn't want to be typecast as the awkward teen. I guess playing the awkward teen is fine for 4 straight movies but once you hit the fifth, it's too much!

But, yeah, he probably just wants more money.
Pffft, he needs to get his head out of his ass. I understand his reasoning, especially if this was just another movie wanting him to play his same character. But these are the people that created the awkward teen that he's become famous(and rich) from. I think he owes it to them to be in the movie.
Last I heard, Cera isn't holding out for more money or anything like that, he just doesn't want to commit to anything until he sees a script (which has yet to be completed, according to troutman's post) and is given a shooting schedule. Given the fact that he's in pretty high demand at the moment, it seems like he's doing the prudent thing.
Yeah, like the kid who makes millions upon millions of dollars playing an awkward teen in every movie he does is going to work for the guy who created him. COME ON!
*lame*
But it makes me so very excited. Even if Cera didn't join, I'm sure Hurwitz would come up with some hilarious way to write him out of the movie.

Yeah, this was exactly my thought - Hurwitz is so good at the metajoke that anything like this just sort of plays into his hands. I do hope that Cera changes his mind, but if he remains out, it probably won't take away from the movie at all.
