What is Eakins whining about here? Does he realize he has the PP now?

Their record up to and including the brawl:
6 out of a possible 24 points.
Since the brawl
9 out of 12
Interesting to watch to see if that will be a catalyst for their season.

The Flames should leave one of their "Earned, Never Given" training camp t-shirts in Yakupov's locker on Saturday.

^ Philly has also played New Jersey, Carolina, New Jersey again, Edmonton, Ottawa, and now Pittsburgh to get those points. Not exactly murderers row there. Most teams would get 9 out of 12 points against that type of opposition.

Their record in the next 3 games after the brawl was 1-1-1 so it doesn't look like that did much to inspire them but in the next 3 games starting with the Oilers they are 3-0.
So I think something much more interesting to follow is just how much impact playing the pathetic Oilers had on their play and if that is the turning point of their season. Makes a lot more sense and the numbers sure show it wasn't the Washington game.
Record prior to Oilers game: 9 out of a possible 30 points
Record after Oilers game: 9 out of 9 points

3:29 of ice time for Yak in the first, and 1:04 was on the PP. Igor won't be happy.

Perhaps, but I think that playing a crappy team happens all the time (for example, they played Florida in October).
I think the brawl was their pride finally kicking in and emotion boiling over. They had already seen their coach replaced, saw their butts getting kicked at home by a traditional rival, and then saw the team get dirty and lay a beating down on the opponents. This is Philly. This sort of thing rallies the troops there. Much like a fight can change the tone of a game, I think something like this can change the tone of the season for certain teams in certain markets.
It will be interesting to watch and I'll be interested to see what happens.
However, to suggest that something which happens a few dozen times a season (playing a crappy team) has more to do with the turnaround than a national news making fight that the team collectively picked with their opponent is a stretch.

They lost 2 out of 3 games they played and played poorly in their win.
It is beyond a stretch to say the brawl did anything for them.
And Ottawa and Pittsburgh aren't bad teams, the Devils and Canes who they played after the brawl were.

Good call by the officials on that Garbutt penalty. Deliberately falling on the puck should always be an instant delay of game penalty.

Not really - no one in front and everyone standing still
Even if I was in net they wouldn't have scored

do they though? They passed the puck around the perimeter and the best scoring chance was a ways out with no one in front of the net.
