I love listening to Morganti in the morning. The guy is hilarious. The East/West hotstove with him and Duhatchuk is fantastic.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Knight is still a good prospect and needed a year in the AHL to bridge the gap, as did Hanowski. No one should be shocked if Gaudreau has some time in the AHL as well.
Having said that, I hate the thought that it is already pre-ordained by Burke (or anyone else). There shouldn't be an AHL default for any player IMO.

I am in the mind that he won't get any NHL games this season.
Even discounting his size, he has reportedly bad off ice habits such as eating a bag of skittles for a pregame meal.
If anything this will be a teaching experience to what he needs to do off ice when he signs.

does he burn a year of his ELC if he signs before the end of the season, regardless of whether he plays?

He's doing what he's doing eating a bag of skittles? I say let him chase the rainbow all he wants!

Like I said in another thread, the Skittles make him our Marshawn Lynch. No, but seriously, I think he needs the "shock" of pro hockey and what's required because his conditioning concerns me too.

Wasn't that the story in his freshman year?

Yeah, Ward will take him grocery shopping. No shopping on the inside aisles.

A few of those posts from that thread identifying that person are deleted now, leading me to believe (BCHockeyJunkie) asked them to be removed to protect their identity.

To me, the skittles story is good news as he has developed to this level with bad conditioning - it suggests there should be another level for him once his diet and conditioning are improved.

Big deal if he likes Skittles. Skittles are 'effin delicious. I'd be more concerned if he didn't like Skittles.

Good dig at Gaudreau too, considering the line just before that was.
"You're not William Wallace! William Wallace is seven feet tall!"

You realize that the Flames aren't allowed to communicate directly with him while he is in college right. They can only talk with his coaches and advisors or he loses his eligibility.

Are you sure about this? I thought NCAA eligibility had nothing to do with this and everything to do with money or other 'gifts'.
I think you are incorrect on that.

A: NCAA players may attend NHL summer development camps, or prospect camps, but must pay their own way (transportation, lodging, food, etc.).

Why would you be able to attend a prospect camp, but not allowed to talk to coaches or management?

If they talk with an agent or about a contract, or potential contract, then they are considered professional and can not continue in the NCAA. They can attend Flames development camps etc., on their own dime, but they are not even allowed to keep gloves and equipment. Archaic NCAA rules but they are what they are. I have seen cases where athletes have been ruled ineligible for accepting dinner/supper meals from alumni.
