I'm not saying he's a bad pick, I feel like we could have got him at 41 though. Granted maybe they were hearing about another team looking into him, but I would have rather taken Julius Miettinen at 28. But I also work retail so what do I know...

Good call. Just read a quick blurb from Pronman and Chinakhov is the comparable he used as well

Not comparing skill level, but the highlights package gives Joe Thornton vibes style wise

Jim Cummins special?
He either hits them out of the park with Gaudreau and Fox, or not (Jake Boltman)

Didn’t zone on his profile but so far intriguing. Big and could be still growing. Nice shot. Good vision and hands. Going to Michigan.

Nice home run swing. Even though chernyshov was there I like this. He really wants to get his roots established in NA. Sound commitment from him.

Yup; I wanted to pick high upside this year and Conroy has done that.

Agreed, I'd rather go for the boom/bust pick then some depth 3rd line grinder. We had that philosophy for far too long.

Flames prospect pool is actually fairly deep. Missing the high end skill. This kid seems to have it, and I trust the Flames scouts lately. Size + skill.

What? When was the last time the Flames used a first round pick on a player whose upside at the time was grinding 3rd line winger?

I don't know anything about the USHL. Is being the keading scorer there a good indicator of NHL success? Who currently in the NHL previously.led the USHL?
