What I've found among the US teams (Both MLB and NHL) close to my location (Red Wings, Blue Jackets, Tigers, Guardians, Reds) is that the local team store authentic jersey sales include the patch and don't come with an option to not have the patch. Online sales though Fanatics, other third party retailers mostly do not. We'll see how the CGY Store decided to sell Flames jerseys or if there's an agreement with the team that includes team store jersey sales.

Some people want the advertising so it looks authentic, others don't

Bit of Quid Quo Pro for the provincial money.
The crown corporation sponsoring the Oilers should've been the Wastewater Advisory Board.

If we're gonna be pushing gambling, we might as well just bring back cigarette advertising, as at least those always looked good with sports. I'd much rather have a sweet Marlboro patch on.

Disgusting to promote gambling the way the NHL and now the Calgary Flames are.

You all know that they had Play Alberta ads on their home helmets last year, right? This isn't a new sponsorship, just a change in location.

Well I know it worked the opposite way for me. There is so much stupid bull#### gambling sites and ads that it drove me away.

I'm gonna guess this is one of the reasons why you ain't a billionaire and ain't gonna buy a hobby hockey team.

This is what I thought too.
First thought wasn't gambling. That's...no good.

The jersey Ads don't bother me as long as they keep them off the ones they sell as Merch.
I just don't want to see ads on the ice.

Back in the 80s/90s in English football you'd be hard pressed to find a shirt sponsor that wasn't a brewery, cigarette company, or a clothing company. Fast forward to now and every shirt has either an airline or a dodgy gambling company on them.

An ad was inevitable, but this is still disappointing.

Gambling is a general scourge on society. At least the play Alberta site partially funds government revenues... better than draftkings or similar money grifts but still.

The 97% of upfront costs taxpayers are already paying is building the barn faster. Might as well use taxpayer money to sponsor the team while we're at it.

I hope the Flames sell less than half the jerseys they normally sell over the entire 7 year period.
