It would show that people think Remembrance day is more important than a stupid religious holiday that's what.
Again, Remembrance Day should be the most important and thoughtful holiday on the calendar, most of us wouldn't be here without those brave people.

100% agreed.
Whereas religion is a choice - I don't care how many people go to church.

Personally I'm ecstatic we have a day off so all of us have time to remember the sacrifice our (your) lord and saviour gave. Wish commerce would stop on that day we everyone had a chance to thank him properly.

People should be able to do whatever they want on holidays. No day is more important than any other day. The entire idea that people want to tell other people what days matter, what don’t and what they should be doing or thinking on those days is dumb.

What are your thoughts on thanking the soldiers who gave their lives so we could have a free nation and the likelihood of you being even born?

Disagree, I think it gives people like you a valuable opportunity to walk into the light of the lord

Which particular lord and saviour? What about all the other lords and saviours? Holidays all around? Could be a lot of holidays.

No, that's walking to the light. Walking into the light is totally different.

Let me get this straight, you see a light and walk to it means your dead but if you walk into it you're not!
Really? I mean really?

Replace Victoria Day with Truth and Reconciliation Day and make it a big deal.

Sure we would. We'd just be speaking German.

This is just wrong.
In Alberta it’s a a stat with schools off. Compare Alberta Christmas church attendance to Remembrance Day attendance. It’s not close.

Pay attention
Kids might be off but the parents aren't, kids don't go to services without them. having said that when I was a young kid the we went to Remembrance Day services with the school, but they don't do that anymore.

But parents are off because it’s a stat day in Alberta that not everyone moves it to Christmas.
So if you can’t show it’s competitive today it won’t be in the future by doubling parents who have days off.

Sounds patronizing.
Hey, we’re not going to do anything to fix the suicide, corruption, missing women, poverty, drug addiction, lack of clean water, housing, education.
But we’ll make your holiday a bid deal with fireworks, indigenous cultural showcases and long meaningless speeches from politicians filled with empty platitudes.
Oh and the public won’t really care. To them it’s just the start of camping season.
