It's 4-0 Heat at the beginning of the second period.
Very different from last night,Pelech has already had two fights, very physical game tonight lots of hits.
Kotalik has three assists, Piskula got his first goal of the year, Meyer has two and Lang has one.
As I'm setting this up Keith just scored, It's now 5-0 Heat.

6-2 win for the Heat, and only two points for actual prospects. Shoot.
In other news, Reinhart and Leach each garnered an assist, Spencer Bennett had a goal (his 30th) and an assist, and Ferland scored his 20th.

Breen, Cunning and Negrin all with one assist each, Kotalik with 4 assists and
Meyers with a hat trick and an assist. That's total of 11 points for Calgary players
and prospects. Not bad at all in my opinion.

Oh, I'm very pleased by the result, but we already know what we have in Kotalik, Meyer, and (to a lesser extent) Cunning. If it was, say, Gaelan Patterson or Lance Bouma racking up points, that would be even better.

Bouma got hurt in the second period and didn't return. They are saying it's a neck injury. Would suck if it was ANOTHER concussion.

Hilarious. Right after being sent down to the ECHL, Bryan Cameron's Victoria team faced Ryley Grantham, Josh Meyers, Giffen Nyren and Hugo Carpentier's Utah team.
Victoria won 6-5 in a shootout.

Missed Brodie's assists, and it looks like they took away MacMillan's assist and gave it to Nemisz. Everything else was correct according to AHL.com.

Macmillan shouldn't have gotten the assist. Nemisz was the one who passed it to the Meyer. Must have been a screw up

brodie appears to be getting on the score sheet quite a bit lately.
Can someone who's watched him progress this season comment on how is defensive game has looked throughout the season?
How far off is he from being ready for the nhl?
Do you think it is a bit aggressive to have him pencilled into a top 6 roles with the flames next season?

Having Brodie play next year completely depends on where we sit with our current group. Is Babchuk re-signed? Is Sarich still here? Pardy Carson or Mikkelson qualified?
Those are all guys who would play ahead of the kid unless he put in some serious work to gain a bit of weight.
He is an extremely fast gifted defenseman, but on a strong forecheck, if the forwards didn't give him the easy out, he would end up getting hurt or turning over the puck alot. He is too good for the AHL though, he literally dominates games with his speed right now. He doesn't turn the puck over a whole lot, but it does happen. He can more often than not skate out of trouble in his own zone and has a really good first pass out of the zone, which is evidenced by the fact that he is the only dman that is a plus player on the Heat.
He could very well slot in in the bottom pairing next year depending on how the offseason goes.

thanx man.
if he is showing promise, and as you say is already doing well at the ahl level, then maybe the contracts of sarich, babchuck, pardy need to be analyzed to see if they still make sense, from a risk vs reward standpoint of an ELC contract on the roster.
i'd like to see a top 6 of bouwmeester, regehr, giordano, babchuk, and at least one of brodie/erixon/pelech, and 1 of mikkleson, carson, pardy.
I do hope the flames are able to find sarich a new home this offseason.

The other question is who is closer to NHL... Erixon or Brodie..
Feaster spoke about Erixon awhile back and I believe it sounded like he has a chance to be on the team next year.
As for Brodie, the key for this guy to make the Flames is not the offense its his defense.

Erixon is a true wild card. The guy is already a dominant 2 way defender in Sweden on one of the best teams in the top league. He is a leader on his team and was a leader for the Swedish Junior team this year as well.
Erixon is probably one of the most developed of our dmen with probably needing another 30-40 games to get into shape.
He is often overlooked, but Negrin is a very polished dman in the AHL. Before his knee surgery he was the most poised and solid player on the Heat roster. And you can already see in the last couple games his ability to control the puck and solid play on the backend.
