Coda Gordon had the lone assist and his only point of the night on the game winning goal tonight scored by Adam Lowry in a 4-2 win over Prince Albert.

Brett Kulak had a goal, an assist, was +1, as Vancouver beat Victoria 5-4 this afternoon.
Laurent Brossoit made 14 of 15 saves as he split time with Tristan Jarry in the final preseason game for Edmonton, as they beat Red Deer 2-1 in OT.

I don't know about anyone else, but that kid has Robyn Regehr 2.0 written all over him.

Naw. Different type of player. Niklas Kronwall is much closer.

I don't know, Kronwall is probably a top 3 hitter in the league, but he has at least some offense. So far, Sieloff has shown no indication of having much offensive skill.
I compare Sieloff to Regehr because of their play styles. Both very physical, hard hitting defensive defensemen that aren't very effective offensively. And now, at least in a small way, their leadership capabilities with Sieloff becoming an assistant captain of his team.

I agree. Regehr, or Stevens maybe. He simply loves the open ice hits.

I don't think either are great comparison's myself. What Sieloff provides that Regehr never could is above average skating ability for a shutdown defender. That is the one aspect of his game that has me very excited about his future. That mix of mobility and physicality is extremely rare, and although he may not have much of an offensive upside he does posses a relatively good first pass.
I am not all that familiar with his shot because he rarely gets the opportunity to use it, but if he can work on his skills with the puck then we could certainly see an increase in his offensive production.

Regeher isnt an open ice hitter though. Sure he rubs guys out hard but he was rarely the guy lining people up.

Did not know that. Thanks for the heads up. Sam Reinhart vs. Laurent Brossoit.

Sieloff looks good tonight in the Spits home opener. Lots of PK time. I like what I'm seeing.
Unfortunately I spoke too soon, game has fallen apart for Windsor, down
5-0 in the third. Sieloff at least a -2.

That's brutal. Anything he was doing bad in particular? What happened to the team? I take it you were watching the game.

First period was good, no score but good chances lots of end to end. They started getting into penalty trouble. Final was 6-1. Sieloff finished -2. Skating looks good, great physical player. I ended up leaving when the Attack made it 6-0, Windsor got one late in the 3rd.

Did Sieloff make any poor plays that directly or indirectly resulted in a goal against? That's much better info than +/- IMO.

No, he really didn't, I thought he played well despite what the score says. He was out defending on a couple of 5 on 3, and I thought he was smart with his positioning etc. He looked good when he was on the ice, aggressive going in the corners etc.
Quote from The Windsor Star:
Boughner also saw positive signs from Sieloff’s game.
“I loved his aggression, his in-your-face style of play,” Boughner said. “He’s learning a lot about this league as well.”

Can't believe this slipped my mind. Forgot that he was learning from one the biggest badasses to play for the Flames.

Ryan Culkin has an assist and is +1 in Quebecs home opener. A period and a half left and they're leading 3-0.
EDIT: Also looks like Ryan Culkin is an assistant captain for the Remparts as well http://theqmjhl.ca/schedule/show/game/62583 ([A] beside his name)

Three assists for Culkin tonight. Great start.
Edit: make it FOUR!
