I still wouldn’t resign him though. Guy has been good this year but is still to me living on an edge. Sure if you get some nice two year Estrada like contract than sure but I think he very easily falls back into a 4.5 ERA guy which isn’t that special. Like this game he has hardly been good. He’s not going to even make it to five. Berrios has his problems but at least he has enough velocity to limit things when not hitting his spots. If Stripling misses his spots well you’ve seen what happens.

Not sure. I think his improvement this year is part his change being really good, part good command. First is likely more sustainable. I’d just be wary of giving that much since I still don’t think he’s more than a 4/5. I’d honestly rather have Kikuchi next year because the potential is so high with his velocity and K rate.

I’d definitely give him the QO. It gets us a pick if he signs elsewhere. If he doesn’t sign the QO, you can still see if he wants to do something more long term. If he signs it, you’ve got a quality team guy for one year with minimal risk.

This is pretty much the playoff batting lineup except for Tapia in place of Gurriel. Kirk and Jansen are both DH quality when they're not catching.

Yeah I’d probably do the QO. It would be an expensive year but then they’d be clear of both his and Ryu’s contract. I don’t know who is available in FA for pitching but other than Tiedeman and Robberse we don’t have anyone too close. I think raises in arbitration and extensions are going to preclude much in the way of FA signings.

I think the most interesting thing in the offseason is what do they do with the 3 catchers. All imo have quite a bit of value and maybe you can bring in a young CF for one of them to move Springer to RF.

Edit: the thought I keep hearing/reading is Arizona which has too many stud young OF (including multiple CF types) but crap catching. Maybe there is a deal to be made there. That could also make one of Teoscar or Gurriel expendable as well.
