Clerks III: So disappointing. The original is a classic and the sequel has a lot of laughs so I was at least expecting some of the same, with funny pop culture references and a story about moving on to wrap things up. It started out okay but turned disastrous when the meta story about making a movie took over. Then it was all remember this or remember that with the jokes just being references to things from the previous movies. There is plenty of media out there on the making of Clerks, not sure why the need to make it the plot of the final movie in the series. Don't even get me started on the horrible ending that makes some very odd choices with the character arcs and provided an unsatisfying conclusion. A giant turd that I regret wasting my life on and hope to forget about soon. 2/10
The Contractor: The 2022 movie on Prime staring Chris Pine as a veteran where the real villain is the American health care system. I get what they were going with here, showcasing a man who gave everything for his country, only to be let down and forced to make tough choices to support his family. It did succeed in this as I definitely sympathized with the character however the movie itself was very dull with pacing issues. Spent over have the movie setting things up and when the action finally came it wasn't anything special and over very quickly. 5/10
The Princess: Had a video game like feel with the titular princess needing to escape a tower and save her family. The simple story was fine and there were some fun action scenes throughout but this fails to do anything interesting with the characters who all have the depth of a wading pool. The protagonist can be best described as "strong woman" and she is the most fleshed out of everyone. The villain was particularly poorly written and felt more like a plot device than an actual character. This also annoyed me with an over reliance on flash backs to provide back story. A few times is fine but we don't need to know the history of every detail. 5/10

I will never not watch a dinosaur movie. Dinosaurs + sci-fi? Jesus, just hook it to the vein. Loved the premise and the characters, but the sets felt small, thrills somewhat lacking, and the dino designs were not great.. generic, without obvious distinctions like you get in JP. So not much paleo-nerding to be had here.
There was potential to go in a "Prey" direction, and I wish they had. But it felt cheaper and like it pulled some punches. The plot armour when you just have just two characters is a little too strong as well.

Yeah, seemed like it was going to better than it was. Plus I hate Adam Driver. He seems like a big dopey moron to me.
I saw it on Sunday and literally had to look it up after your post to jog my memory about it. Very forgettable movie.

A little too forgettable. Which is exactly why they needed to go balls to the wall with it to make it stand out from the swathes of bland B movies out there. They had a 10/10 premise/idea to work with.
Nothing about humans from another galaxy crash landing on earth 65 million years ago with living breathing dinos says they should've played it anywhere near as safe as they did
OK I finally actually watched RRR tonight and... maybe that should have won best picture?
I'm joking but only sort of. Yeah it was totally unserious and silly and over the top and corny and completely ridiculous with a great deal of hammy, questionable acting but... who cares, that was just far too much fun.

Damn I keep intending to watch that and keep forgetting. If only there was some sort of tool or technology that I could give myself a reminder to watch it.
I'd like to see the Luther movie, but I feel like I'd have to re-watch the entire series to remind myself of what happened. I honestly enjoyed the series, but absolutely none of it sank in my memory. I'm not sure I even saw the fifth season.

I am probably the biggest RRR fan on this forum. I thought it was without a doubt the most fun movie made last year. It's a movie that does everything at an 11. To quote the video below it does everything at an 11, tragedy, comedy, villainy, heroism, sacrifice, spectacle, danger, song, dance and of course action. I really think if someone is bored by of the current slate of movies or someone who wants to watch a type of movie they definitely haven't seen before to check it out.
Start at 14:30
or a standard review
It's on Netflix. There is an English dub if you don't want to read subtitles but I would still keep them on as they do add to the movie.
It also definitely does nationalist propaganda to 11, but being well removed from the target audience for that sort of thing it's a bit easier to ignore that uncomfortable aspect of the whole thing.
It's basically like if you took the Ip Man movies, a buddy action comedy, Mel Gibson's The Patriot and Gladiator and then added a bunch of musical and epic dance scenes and mixed them together in a big tank and then attached a fire hose to said tank, and then pointed it at the audience and opened it up to full blast on them.

I found it interesting watching a movie that wasn't the typical western narrative of "we are the good guys" or "our soldiers are sad they killed your people" which most western war movies could be broadly slotted into. The director said that Inglorious Basterds was a huge influence for him. Which totally makes sense. Let's tell this history in a Hollywood way that clearly never happened and have fun while doing it. Frankly I don't think it's worth discussing the politics of popcorn movies. They are more superficial than anything.
The action in RRR is incredible. I loved how brightly lit the scenes were making it clear to the viewer exactly what is going on. Hollywood could learn a thing or two here.
My biggest issue was the horrible Hindi dub on Netflix. If you are going to dub just give me English or else leave in the original Telugu.

That sounds f'ing terrible. I had it on my list to watch a few weeks ago but removed it, glad I did.
Sure... Look, some people just hate having PURE UNADULTERATED ENTERTAINMENT poured over them for three hours non-stop. It sucks that you're like that but that's your cross to bear.
The reality is that it would be bad if it took itself super seriously.... but it doesn't, so it's pretty easy to just enjoy it.

RRR was a super fun movie. The first I have ever seen from that part of the world, and I was thoroughly entertained. If you like being entertained by action , humour and quirky this show is a must see. Even the dance scenes were so excellent.
If you don’t like smiling and joy I would recommend staying away from this tour de force of fun.

Watched The Full Monty for the first time yesterday and had an amazing time. The movie is absolutely hilarious, filled with heart and has realistic depictions of male friendships. Also love that they put a gay storyline in the film.

I disagree. Even if Kevin Smith lit a dumpster fire and then filmed it, it would be a 100/10.
