I'm sure a lot of people think it's ######ed that he has Virtanen at 43 in the first place. I don't see how he doesn't go top 10. Button has always been super low on him for some reason.
Yipe, he;s probably the only hockey writer (I won't call him a "mind") who ranked Jake lower that 10-12.
Anyway, everyone knows my feeling on Button...I need not go any farther.
Sorry, but to mock draft a #43 ranked player to #6 is beyond reaching.
What would you think if Button had Calgary take Michael Bunting with the 4th pick?
I think you would call him ######ed.
He isn't taking that #43 rank into consideration though when doing this mock draft - it's not a reach at all since Virtanen is considered top 10 in most ranks. Button may not see him as a top 10 prospect, but he thinks most teams will see him as one and he'll be picked accordingly.
Considering Button has seen him play 40+ times over the last 3+ seasons I don't think its fair at all to dismiss what he is saying completely - it's certainly better than reading scouting reports.

Any one of the four. Just one of them. Thats all. Throw all your preferences out the window and just hope for one of the four. Become one with the idea that any of Renihart, Ekblad, Draisaitl or Bennett will be a boon for the Flames.
I'm just excited that in less than 96 hours, all this mind bending speculation and endless back and forth and over analysis will all be over.
And we can all have a nap, and then focus on the fantastic ideas about who the Flames should trade for, sign, who would never come to Calgary in the first place (All of them in the collective mind think of CP) and who will get paid too much by other teams.

This is twice in the last couple of days that you have slammed someone over their lists - but I think you aren't being fair and understanding what lists are.
You have:
Mocks - projections on what team will take what player regardless of your own personal rankings
Ratings - your own personal ratings on each player and where you rank them
Bob's List - consensus rankings based on the scouts he talks to
Button's Mock shouldn't reflect his own ratings because they are two entirely different things.
Button rates Virtanen very low but recognizes that - that's not how most scouts feel and chances are a team will take him top 12 if not higher.

Did you even watch it Jiri?
Button: "Virtanen could have the most upside in the draft"
Button: "Virtanen has an excellent shot"
Button: "Virtanen is a great skater"
Button: "Virtanen is from the lower mainland---great fit"
Jesus H Christ man....ask yourself the question? Is this the same guy picking a player to go #6 who ranked him 43rd.
His own ratings or not if you fail to see where I'm coming from I seriously can't help you.
TSN has a video clip up on Craig Button and why he has Jake Virtanen so low (43rd) versus Central Scouting's 6th:
"I've watched Jake play over 40 times the last 3 and a half seasons. To me: exceptional skater (maybe the best skater in the draft), excellent shot. I just don't see him translating that into a top-6 forward. I see him as an NHL player, maybe along the lines of a Raffi Torres."
He also clarifies his stance by saying he believes he'll go early in the draft anyways because there are enough teams that think he will be a top-6 forward, but he doesn't agree with that, thus the lower ranking.

Yes I seen it before, Button can claim he knows more about talent than working NHL GM's and pro scouts all he wants...fact is he just a putz who can't get another gig in the show.
Ruslan Zainullin will make you forget abour Marc Savard baby!
Virtanen will go top 15 for sure, in every draft there's at least one top 15 bust but make no mistake odds are Virtanen will make Button his Bitch.
Virtanen should go anywhere between 7 and 15, but Button has him in the 40s, right? Craig's list is meant to reflect who he thinks will have successful careers in the NHL.
I think there is something about Virtanen which makes Button think he'll flop. I wonder if he might be reminded of a certain Flames prospect he inherited from Coates. A certain winger with blazing speed... All the tools but no tool box...
He might be letting his past experience taint his view of a similar prospect.

He said he doesn't expect Virtanen to become a top 6 player in the NHL ... sees him as a Raffi Torres type of player in the NHL. Personally I think he's extremely wrong on this but who knows.
