I thought Night Country was received well. How was it a waste? (spoiler free of course)
The payoff was ridiculous, IMO.

Landman.. 1 star lol. Cardboard characters, misogynistic (I mean yeah oil and gas does have that vibe, but they missed the mark anyway). Terrible writing. Fubar 2 is more realistic and it's a comedy

The only thing I know about Landman is Billy Bob's diatribe on wind turbines. Many right wing family members sent that around... Which was subsequently debunked to high heaven by experts.

Wind turbines, like any energy source, certainly have their warts but...were your family members aware that this is just a TV show?
I mean, you've got a handful of posters on this board that rant apoplectically about 'sources' but...a TV drama? I dont think anyone could realistically make a case for the validity of that.
I think I'd give it more than a 1 but not by much. Billy Bob was good, Feore was good, I liked the 'right hand man' guy, but not much beyond that. The rest of the characters were just awful.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I'm sure Landman season 2 is going to be much worse. By the end of the series the military gets permission from Billy Bob to run exercises and intimidate the mexicans. Soon after they're dropping mortars on them (accidentally), which becomes a covert cleanup job. No big deal! Moral of the story, oil and gas is protecting the border from drug dealing coloured people. Yay.. lol. WTF billy bob

I dont think anyone should be pulling any story morals out of this show.
Now, I'm not the most well-versed in Oil and Gas Companies, I do understand that they are extremely powerful as they have a lot of money and influence, that being said, its always been my understanding that they're usually a bit more subtle about it?
I will say that one thing I liked was that Billy Bob consistently talks a big game about the power and supremacy of Oil Companies, etc, and then as soon as he's in private or trusted company he openly admits that he made all that #### up!
