Drai and McDavid also played 5-6 more minutes on average than any other player. So even though they played 12 games, they didn't play much less than the league leaders. It's kind of an unfair comparison... the same goes for regular season stats. Clearly they're amazing players, but they they have a major advantage given the extra time on ice (especially on the powerplay) they are gifted.

Player on ELC at $900k also has performance bonuses which factor into to cap penalties for future years. It’s easy to say let’s the kids play but you better have a cap structure to absorb the bonuses in future years if they hit them

I picked those two as being set down as they are waivers eligible. When they sign overpay the La-Bouche that will give them 8 defense (with notable prime-giordano's Markus Niemelainen and Vincent Desharnais) which means at least one is going down. They will need that money to get forwards, and they will still need to either dump assets for late round picks or push players through waivers just to make enough space to ice a team.

But no actually, Carolina is going to do Pesce (+maybe some sweetener) for Broberg, Kulak, and a pick, because something something owner is cheap.

They are using the Ryan contract that players will take less to play there. Because Ryan said he took 325k less to stay in Edmonton. Less than who or what? Did somebody else offer him 1.25 mil before Jul 1st? He was only negotiating with the Oilers, how does he know he took less? They are lapping it up as proof players will take less. Ryan goes in and says I want 1.25 for 1 year. Holland says we’ll give you 1.8 over 2 years and he says deal. Then he gets a career ending injury end of this year and collects his extra dough.
