Normally I'd trust Gareth Edwards, but looks like they went "big" instead of better again with all these mutant species. We'll see.
At least it's back to survival on an island. But the "samples from the LARGEST dinosaurs species will cure the world!" part is just so goofy.
The whole mutant/hybrid species misses the whole point of the series. THEY ARE DINOSAURS. They are pretty great predators to start with. You should be able to write a descent movie with dinosaurs hunting people, without the need to give them superpowers.
The last film finally had the dinosaurs on the mainland...and the focus was mutant grasshoppers.....I hate this series so much for being a gigantic waste of potential.

Hear, hear... and if they don't learn with this one, after everything? I don't even want to think about it.
I chalk up their insistence on going the weaponized superdinos direction with the influence of the MCU. Around 2015 when World came out, it was at its height of popularity. So you can just see the execs asking the writers how they can make this "more" than just Jurassic Park resurrected.
The thing is JP isn't the MCU and no one asked for bigger, badder mutant dinos to be a thing.
As you said, they're freakin Dinosaurs. It was never broke to begin with. Heck, I thought JP3 was mid at best but I'd take another 3 of those over the colossal 'ceratops doo-doo they laid in the World trilogy. These mega-budget, sensory overloading sequels of beloved franchises make me very sad because they've completely lost the plot of what made the originals magical.
Just give me another stripped down, Spielberg-inspired iteration with animatronics before I kick the bucket.. A man doesn't ask for much.
ALL THAT SAID..... I'm still curious about the gnarly looking thing in the enclosure

I'd like to see dinosaurs invade the EU, and then the rest of the movie be the EU parliament discussing what to do about it and creating regulations. Maybe in the end they let the Dutch create a poisonous to dinos tulip. With proper oversight, of course.

I think there is actually a Japanese Godzilla movie that is essentially this.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
The Elvis movie and the awful Master of the Air gave me a strong dislike for Butler, but then I watched Dune 2 and it changed my opinion on him. Dude can act, he just needs something to cover up his pretty boy face. If he's constantly getting the #### kicked out of him in Caught Stealing I could see him being pretty good in it

Really? I kind of liked that Elvis movie.
My major gripe was they made Elvis seem a bit too innocent, and made Parker too evil. The narrative of the film was that Parker had roped Elvis into performing in Vegas, simply to make cash, at the cost of Elvis' health.
The idea that people were forcing fried banana and peanut butter sandwiches down Elvis' throat is a bit absurd. The man made a lot of his own choices. The guy also had extravagant spending habits. He spent (in today's dollars) 10s of millions on capes alone. He clearly loved hookers, over eating, and popping pills. According to the film though, he was just worked to death to pay for Parker's gambling debts.
I wanted to echo the sentiments about everyone's thoughts on using mutant/hybrid dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park series. That's always been a disappointment going back to Jurassic World. As blankall said they have DINOSAURS! Why do they continually feel the need to change the formula for the past three movies. They have gotten worse after each movie, after becoming further entrenched in the idea of "creating monster" hybrids. Nearly all the fun is lost, then add in the cloning nonsense and I began to hate the series.
I feel they do this to avoid killing actual dinosaurs. It's okay to kill monsters, but hands off real dinosaurs. I don't think a human has actually killed a dinosaur in the series, other than gymnastics girl taking out a raptor in Lost World. I think the studio is worried what the audience will feel if a Trex or raptor is murdered by a human. Of course this misses the entire point of the first movie, as they are all monsters in their own right. Created in a lab by John Hammond, and in theory are soulless monsters.. Yet that conflicts with the cloning conversation from Falling Kingdom. However they have no quarrels with dinosaurs killing each other as that's nature over nurture.
Another problem I've had with the series is these movies always kill off rich white guys, going back to the first movie. It's just become tedious. They create the same money grubbing over the top characters in every movie, and kill them off by the end of each movie... I would hope in this movie they would change things up and kill off Johansson or one of the kids, but we all know that won't happen. The greedy corporate suit will surely get his comeuppance by the end. It's just lazy writing, and every single movie has the same darn formula. I love anything about the prehistoric past, but everything outside of JP1 and parts of Lost World has been horrible. It could be an easy fix, but as long as these movies make money I doubt anything changes.

On that note, I was most disappointed in the killing of Irrfan Khan in Jurassic World, that guy was killer!
