We have a legal other solution I think. Thanks comic book guy for the sage advice. I’m such an a-hole for gassing someone in some made up scenario.

Trust me...you'd much prefer that to me actually doing the work.

The last wall I put up eventually fell on me. Thats why I pay people.

I’m sure if I got a contractor over he would have told me about that, but fat nerd on the internet needs to find the one small ridiculous scenario. What if an airplane hit?????!!! Did you think of that.?

I was asking for contractor recommendations.
Quit being so dramatic. You don't need to be so butthurt because people added to the conversation, without knowing for certain if you have an egress window or not in the area you wish to put a bedroom. Which you 100% should, if you're going to enclose a basement space with a wall and a door to utilize as a bedroom.

So you could just be a normal person and respond with more information regarding your situation than throwing a baby tantrum.

Only if it's your wife's contractually binding Sunday obligation.

It does seem weird to ask about a contractor to build a whole room the day before someone moves in but also get mad at people saying you should have a smoke detector because there just isn’t enough time.

Framing a wall, putting up drywall and installing a prehung door is really only a 20 min job and can easily be done before you even get up tomorrow. Pretty sure if you get a real expert they can even mud, tape, prime, paint, trim and install hardware before breakfast. Only if you don't mind a little QL103.1 cranked at 5:30am, and Costco cheese ball dust on your furniture.

Just don't mention the smoke detector or that guy is peacing out.

I ignore/block a certain poster . He’s Moving in and we will figure it out. I was just throwing ideas out there how to make it better like pos. best ask nerds. They will know what to do. So I’m gonna spend the night making the house cleaner and I don’t know what else to do.

I may not live in Calgary anymore but I still take the city wherever I go (Yeah I know I'm not smiling, nothing to really smile about with this season)

Spoiler!

Good on you fotze for helping this guy out. Hang a fukcing blanket from the ceiling and I’m sure this kid will be grateful.

Don’t take a construction question to the toxic empathy crowd. “He’s gonna die if you don’t do this right!”

If the room has no windows you better at least put a light in there ,and not just a candle either .

You know someone has gone deep on the Musk dick riding when they start tossing out phrases like "toxic empathy". It's the same bull#### mental cheese goo seal barking as their opposition to DEI, which essentially comes down to being against equality and helping the disadvantaged. Makes sense it's an easy jump from that to claiming a vital human trait, one even Jesus might have been a little found of, is the downfall of society. Heaven forbid you give a #### about the others. Nope, that's toxic.

Anyway, happy Jesus day to all who follow his words and deeds in shaping how they choose to live and treat others.

The concept of “toxic empathy” aside, it’s just a weird thing to bring up in context of having a contractor build a room in your basement, wanting it to be nice, and having people point out code requirements for doing so, made even weirder by the solution of “hang a blanket!”

I’m pretty sure fotze is smart enough to hang a blanket and wasn’t asking for a contractor to build an actual room simply because he hadn’t thought of it lol

I get wanting to make the place nice and comfortable for this kid, but it certainly seems a little knee-jerk to begin immediately setting out to start a new construction project, which certainly won’t be as straightforward as putting up some walls and slapping on drywall, and then getting upset when people note some caveats he should be aware of, like windows, vents, electrical, etc.

I guess he could have just started with - “I am looking for construction recommendations to add a bedroom to a finished basement”, rather than leading with what he thinks adding a bedroom to a basement should entail, like “oh just build this thing asap, it only needs walls, a door, some paint”.

Or you could not be a c word. You boob. Hour after we agreed to take him. I was spitballing. Throwing #### out there.

If you have a brainstorming session are you the guy sitting in the corner offering nothing but how things won’t work. I know you. Beat it.

Now got two on ignore!!!
