Not sure about Samsung since I stopped using them years ago, but the face unlock on my Pixel 7 works really well. I turned it off because I don't like it though, which actually brings me to my next gear grinder: Phones that have a fingerprint sensor on the front instead of the back. I miss my Pixel 5

Anyone got a good solution to using face ID at a drive through for Apple Pay?
For apple vs android I used to be interested in new things and fiddling to optimize. Now I just want things to work and not change. So apple seems reasonably good at that.
I do think they need more standardization and communication legislation to enforce functionality between ecosystems. I appreciate the EU on charging cables but all sorts of these types of protocols need to be legislated now rather than rely on industry to cooperate.

And unlocking is only a small part of it. Is Samsung's Face Unlock secure enough to authenticate things that need high security? Using Face ID, I can log into banking apps, trading platforms, password managers, etc. and pay for things with my phone without even noticing that any authentication has taken place because it's nearly instantaneous. With my prior phones I'd have to make sure my finger was on the sensor and if I had gloves on, wet hands, etc. it was a pain. Or in the case of my Pixel, when it was mounted on my dashboard if it locked itself Id have to try to reach around it to get to the fingerprint sensor on the back.

lol, let's not forget there were a good two years there where every iPhone owner looked like an absolute tit trying to unlock their phone to pay with tap by awkwardly dragging down their mask with one hand and swinging their phone around with the other.
I think given the option of Face ID or side fingerprint under the volume rocker most people will go with the fingerprint sensor. There is zero fataing around and you're holding your phone, anyway. Gloves? I'd never handle my phone with gloves on, so it's a non-issue, but I could turn on Face ID if I wanted.
The option for both sensors (samsung) is obviously superior to Face ID only.

Look at the device as you're reaching over to the PIN pad and double-clicking the home button? Don't wear a ski-mask to a place you aren't robbing?
I have no idea what solution to propose here because I don't understand the problem you're having, I have used Face ID with Apple Pay at drive-thru windows several times.

No, I figured this out by training Face ID a bit more. I held a piece of paper and blocked the lower left side of my face with the corner at the tip of my nose. Once I did that, mask or no mask, Face ID worked fine.
There was supposed to be a way to enroll a masked version of your face in Face ID but that only got released in the US IIRC.

Sorry dude, that sucks. When stuff like that happens to me, either with a possible employer or a place I'm interested in living, I write it off as a red flag/near miss incident. I wouldn't want to have to deal with people like that anyway, if that's their style.
Quick interview is a good sign, I bet you get another one elsewhere fairly fast.

Face ID has been compatible with masks almost since day 1 of covid.

Thinking about it it’s that I use the Tap device to get the iPhone to open the wallet then have to re-aim my phone back at my face which causes the person with the machine to pull back because they think it’s done then put it back down at the machine. The whole thing was awkward but it didn’t click that their might be a better way because people seem to like Face ID here.
But I think j figured out a solution. It’s to double click to open wallet and Face ID rather than just puuting it to the machine first.

I haven’t messed around with it, but can’t you configure it to not need biometrics to make a payment? I think on my iphone I can disable touch id if I just want to essentially use it as tap.

Guys who insist on growing long beards who don't have the genes for it, especially if they're in a service sector job. No, your beard isn't epic, nor does it make you look cool. It looks like you glued some pubes to your face and it's very distracting to look at

Beard shaming?? This is a new low.
I thought we were all in this together!

Most men who criticize the facial hair of other men have pretty significant facial hair issues of their own or some other thing they’re self-conscious about, in my experience. Usually a kind of “how dare you try when I would never” kind of thing.
I see ugly people everywhere I go, but I wouldn’t say it grinds my gears.

You must not live in Bonavista. Everyone there is a 10, that's why they have so many dinner parties that start well passed dinner time.

I've just never really become accustomed to putting my car keys in a fishbowl when I arrive.
I can understand wanting to be a responsible host and making sure nobody has too much to drink and then drives home but confiscating your keys upon entry and then making you grab random keys later seems extreme.

Ordering McD's for breakfast, which I haven't done in years. Getting an orange drink instead of orange juice... I feel violated.

Also you might think you're upgrading from your current car, maybe even score the neighbors Lamborghini, but then someone from Dover shows up with this monstrosity

Key parties aren't about going home with someone else's car.
EDIT: Or were you using the car as a metaphor? In that case, I assume the party host makes sure to only invite people whose "cars" are all relatively equally attractive, so everyone is happy with whichever ride they go home with at the end of the night.
