Cavallini back in the mix too. Unreal.
1 goal and 1 red card for a mid table team in Mexico, starting only 2 of 11 games and being a time wasting sub the other 9 appearances.

MRU lose 1-0. They'll play UBC for bronze in a repeat of the Canada West final the Cougars won last weekend.
Cape Breton will play Montréal in the championship game.

Deano Morley deserves a lot of respect for what he's done with that program.
I played in the AUS with SMU when we were a powerhouse in the early 2000's. CBU was never good and never made the playoffs.
Ever since he came in they've been an absolute juggernaut. I've heard he has a ton of scholarship money to hand out relative to other schools, but it's remarkable what he's done when considering the local pool of players to choose from is terrible relative to cities across Canada and Cape Breton probably isn't the easiest sell to every prospective student.

So lineup predictions? Back 3/5 or a back 4?
I think they’ll go with a back 3/5. We don’t have the CBs to reliably play a back 3 but I think it makes sense against Jamaica and their attacking group. I think our wingbacks will need to be engaged defensively and if that takes away from their attacking game then so be it.
David - Tajon
Koné - Eustaquio - Ahmed?
Davies- ??? - Vitoria - Johnston - Laryea
Borjan
Is my guess. I’d like to see Cornelius as the 3rd CB but I am guessing it will be Miller. Vitoria is in there for his height on defensive set pieces which I think is a big concern.
I’d really like to see LdF as the right sided CB (pushing Johnston to wingback) but unfortunately I can’t see him actually getting a start. Hopefully he makes a couple appearances though.
I’d rather us play a 4-3-3 for all sorts of reasons (or even go back to a 4-4-2 which I think would compliment this group quite well) but against Jamaica it is probably better to go with something more familiar to the group. If they play it as a 3-5-2 I will be very concerned about the space in behind the wingbacks and the Jamaican wingers. Be conservative. Sit back lower to protect Vitoria and Miller and their non-existent pace and try and hit on the counter. That’s why I’ve got Tajon up top instead of Larin. A draw in Jamaica is not a bad result to bring home to Toronto.

I doubt it happens, and this is meant as no disrespect for what they have done, but I would like to see none of the old guys- Vitoria, Hoillett, Borjan etc. in there. They have been great thanks for the service, but we need to see if we have any talent outside of them especially Vitoria and Borjan.

Won’t start before 7pm Mountain now, according to CSA twitter. I wonder if this one gets postponed, which raises all sorts of logistical issues.

On the bright side, Canada can't fumble their way through a rain soaked pitch like they did against Honduras last year. No excuses for this one...

I believe in the Jays.

Looks like we are going 442. I like it, Davies and Tajon will both be free to attack from the wings. Will be a big test for the midfield two though.

David’s got to do better than that when you’re through the defence

Big away goal. The defence hasn’t given me a lot of confidence this far though, so hopefully they don’t sit on this. Need an insurance goal.

Wouldn’t say it’s a deserved lead but getting the first goal is huge!
Way too many turnovers in the midfield and Jamaica’s speed is terrifying. Hopefully they can get a second goal and lock it down

Thought that was a real good half by Canada, barring some miscues from Vitoria. Both backlines look shaky. Antonio going down injured is a huge blow for Jamaica.
Larin does so well to turn his defender and make a perfect pass to David. Don't know why but Larin always shows up for Canada regardless of his club form.

A better pitch and our stats would be better. Passing for sure. Amazing what soft, humid Bermuda grass does versus hybrid at BMO Field.
