Yup, they just developed about the only space they could, and even that is a flood plain. DMF is way too small.

Braid: Behind inflation payouts lies a plan for universal provincial data collection
|
Quote:
There’s nothing political about the coming $600 payments for inflation relief, oh no. The UCP tells us this payout is solely for the good of Albertans.
It’s a mysterious coincidence, therefore, that the provincial election is set for May 29.
And the key benefits expire in June.
|
Quote:
The biggest problem with the provincial system may be some people entitled to the benefit won’t be able to apply.
A tax adviser I spoke to has many vulnerable seniors as clients. He says there’s no way some of them could register digitally, go to a registry office, or even phone the helpline the government will offer.
Jones says people in that state are likely to be receiving other benefits already. If so, they are automatically eligible and don’t have to register.
It still seems inevitable that some people will lose out, while many others will spend time swearing at their computers.
The government is taking a gamble here. There’s nothing like digital disaster to catch people’s attention.

Is the Huskie House still open at Deadman's Flats?
That place used to be the bomb for diner food.

And children's Tylenol/Advil are already readily available again. They are just behind the counter to prevent stockpiling.
So basically it went:
- Blame supply issue solely on Trudeau. He hates us and especially our kids, right?
- Thump chest, "sovereignty!", we can do it better!
- Obtain a product that arrives too late and is illegal to be sold because it doesn't meet safety regulations. Obviously this wasn't cheap.
- Spin it as a win because AHS can use it, even though that was never the intent or the need.
So yes, "doing nothing", or rather "letting the supply chain recover" would've been faster and cheaper.

I've notice Smith has made a lot of spending promises, is buying votes all over the place, but has she had any ideas on reducing government spending? I always hear form Conservatives government has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Maybe it's just the high royalties right now convincing her there is money for everything, but how different would things be if she had the same funding constraints as we did the past 6-8 years? Has she announced anything ever that deals with expenditures?

I’m trying to find positives where I can with this government so I’m currently enjoying the irony of wealth redistribution policies being implemented by a party that on countless occasions has tried to paint socialism and socialist policies as evil.

There's the semblance of a good idea here. For instance, perhaps allowing private vehicles outside of the shuttle schedule.

Nah, y'see, it's not evil for them to dole the money out. You're just an evil commie POS if you take the money.

Why bother with fiscal conservativism when you can instead use the money in an attempt to buy votes?

Look, if the UCP doesn't give out all this money, then the NDP will win. And if that happens, the NDP will just start handing out money, something the UCP absolutely opposes.

The handing out money is one thing, but I don't think I've heard one practical "conservative" idea for cutting costs on anything. Maybe she's a secret Liberal. Hear that rural UCP voters? Smith is a secret Liberal!
