That's why you're not a GM!  Jose's not as bad as he's showing, but he's clearly lost a lot this year. Injuries have been happening at a more frequent rate. I don't care if he's Joey Bats, at this point in his career he's not better (or in the future). If it were me I'd sign EE at up to $25M, let Saunders and Bautista walk and try and get Votto here. The rest leave to smart signings and trades. Jose's good, but he's got a couple years left at most in the tank to be all-star worthy. Certainly not worth the $30M+ he's expected, based on this years' performance.

I don't think Jose's value has fallen enough that he would take a 1 year "show me deal"
He will still get multi-year 20+ mil from someone.

Agreed.
His asking price may have to come down a touch from the absurd numbers we heard at the start of the year, but with Boston losing Ortiz and Yankees losing Texeira and A-rod, those holes need to be filled. Both teams have infinite payrolls, and Bautista mashes in both of those parks.
I will be completely shocked if one of JB or EE doesn't end up with one of those two teams. It just makes too much sense.

I missed the start of the game and saw the lineup card and was like what kind of half cocked lineup is this. Only missing Pillar, Bautista, Donaldson and Tulo from our usual starters. Half suprised we didn't throw Thole in for fun.
