Hope on of those scenarios come true. I'd prefer Samson over Samuel, but I'd be thrilled either way!

I think Jankowski could be. Granlund seems to be more of a winger in my mind, but Jankowski looks like a kid that could be a prototypical 2nd line center. Great frame that is just starting to fill in and incredible skills. The kid is very coachable and is will to do whatever it takes to win. He reminds me of Nieuwendyk so much it is spooky. We'll see how he does this year, but I think with his commitment to learning the systemic side of the game he's right on schedule to be an excellent pivot on a team with aspirations of going deep in the post-season.

I feel bad saying this, you know, because of the whole 'life is sacred and should not be wasted' thing... but I really wish there was a way to pass time like using the wait command in Skyrim. I guess I could just load up on costco sleeping pills.

Agreed! Not sure why the extreme views on Jankowski.
In any other situation if you said to anyone on the board would you be interested in a 6,4" center, who skates well, has good I.Q, excellent skating and skill, and is very coachable and is extremely young, I think that most posters would be lining up to say yes please.
Some peoples opinion on him because players picked after are already contributing to their teams is a little weak, unless you pick last in the draft their is a pretty good chance that a good player will be picked after you; you can't have them all.
I think that about five years from now the Feaster tenure with the Flames is going to be looked at very differently when some of these projects are playing.
As far as this draft is concerned, whoever we pick with 4 is going to be a huge asset going forward, I like a lot of things from each of the players at the top and just can't see how we lose in this situation.
Personal fave out of the top bunch is Reinhart. The hockey I.Q. is off the charts, and as far as I'm concerned nothing in a players repertoire makes up for deficiencies and increases attributes more than I.Q.
I can imagine J.H. -Reinhart, mentally destroying some poor penalty kill for years to come. Makes me kind of warm and fuzzy inside.

THW's 3 round mock for the Flames:
4.Sam Bennett
34.Eric Cornel
54.Jack Glover
64. Alex Peters
83. Alexandre Goulet
That is probably my favorite Mock so far. Bennett, Cornel AND Glover? Wow yes please.

Not to mention Peters, who by all accounts is a big, shut down defenceman. Also rated 26th overall on Craigs March list.

I'll counter with a secondary:
4. Sam Reinhart (optimism)!
34. Jack Dougherty
54. Hunter Smith
64. Ben Thomas
83. Keegan Iverson

I believe in the Pony Power
|
In the CPHL draft (which isn't a mock at all - but just to see what player went in each of the Flames' slots):
4. Michael Dal Cole
34. Ryan Macinnis
54. Nick Magyar
64. Dylan Sadowy
83. Shane Eiserman

Sportsnet writer says hard to see Ekblad as a fit for Florida or Buffalo:
Gare Joyce @GareJoyceNHL
Buffalo won't go for Ekblad. If he goes #1 then Bennett or Reinhart are options. If Bennett goes at 1, Sabres would be happy with Reinhart.
Gare Joyce @GareJoyceNHL
Last year a major agent painted a scenario for me that had Seth Jones dropping to 4. Hard to see Ekblad as great fit in Fla or Buff.
Gare Joyce @GareJoyceNHL
Bennett might be attractive if you think you're getting McDavid next year, but that's like taking out a home loan against a lottery ticket.

So who would Edmonton take between Ekblad and Draisaitl?

It could be the same thing honestly.
If Florida was really sold on Ekblad they likely don't shop the pick like they are.
Buffalo spend a couple first rounders on d-men last year and are in need of a center.
Messaging out of Edmonton seems to state that they have lots of younger d-men that they like (Nurse, Marincin, Klefbom) but lack a bigger bodied center up front.
It is really starting to feel like last year in the top 4.

They could use both but I've got to think that in that scenario Edmonton doesn't pass on Ekblad.

If Ekblad falls to 3, I'll riot. Really hope that Reinhart, Bennett and Ekblad don't go 1-2-3 ... but if they do, I'd be curious if the Flames take Draisaitl or opt for Ritchie instead.
