Look I'm not asking them to change the name of the Saddledome from Pengrowth to Scotiaback. Hell I've put up with the wrong scoreboard for how many years now. I just want the frelling legit roster update. None of this online rosters saving dren. Can I do it? Yes. But it is the principle.

You know what, to hell with this game. I'm done. I almost want to go on a cry fest similar to some of the people bitching about their Heritage Classic seats.
I really want to wait for a patch and see how much it improves, but everyday the game loses some value as a trade in for Black Ops.

Also, from looking at the blog they put out for the update, it sounds like we won't get fully accurate rosters for the AHL until sometime in January. All the legal mumbo jumbo indicates that a player must sign with the PHPA in order to be put in the game. Apparently this is why some of the players who were there before (as CHL licensed players ex. Cody Hodgson) are now gone completely from the game. These players often take as long as 4 months to sign with the PHPA.

Knowing this, I will default my rosters and edit them from there on my own. That is, of course, if I choose to keep the game.

Well you asked "So isn't it just an online roster? Not a full update?" And I respond that it is an update. You can use them for offline game modes and it will stick after you save it manually. Am I not understanding your question correctly?

I found there is a way to get them even if you don't have xbox live gold. Not ideal of course, but should work.

Quote:
Step 1-Go to HUT

Setp 2-Go to play Tournament

Step 3-Go to online tournament

Step 4- Select some random one

Step 5- hit advance (If you need to fix your roster so you can play ie contracts)

Step 6- Let it download, you will then be told you don't have permission to access the following feature, ignore that

Step 7- Quit HUT

Step 8- Go to rosters, check any team (As I did the Canucks, and see if they added missing people like Schaefer, if they are there, go save your roster)

could always ask the forum if anyone has a spare 2day, or 1 month trial card.

you usually get them with games or repairs.

Jobo,

What is your thought on whether we will see any player updates this year? I assumed this roster update also was going to tweak players as well, but we have seen that it is just a movement thing with some players added/removed from the game.

In the NHL 11 blog, Gurn (one of the developers responsible for player rosters) mentions they will be making player updates over the year:

Quote:
As we are moving forward this year with more roster updates we will be evaluating players at different intervals during the season to determine if anybody need to be tweaked up or down in their attributes. This will be for players who are having a breakout year or a major drop in their talent. This is only to simulate what is going on this year and next year the player will be reevaluated so their numbers might go up or down depending on their career path and overall skills.

lol...

Jobroule, maybe you can help me understand the ranking system.

So, as you know, I was bitching last night that someone quit on me. I put the controller down before anything terrible happened to it and revisisted my semi-final (albiet my second of this year's playoffs).

So I play some dude who is really good again in the semi-finals, but he's not that good at D, so it wasn't all that hard. He had like 97 O and 90 D or something. Anyway, I win, he doesn't quit .... life is grand.

In the final, I meet some guy who is 67 O 71 D and like 55 G....

Uh... how the eff did he make it to the finals? It wasn't even close. I don't get it... are the final games just ranked with anyone? Like it's a regular game and it's only you that sees the playoff win? And on that note, I didn't play much this season, was ranked only 450 or so, and still made the playoffs. How on earth does this guy make it? I assume EVERYONE makes it?

Also, if you're wondering... there's no trophy presentation or celebration. It just ends like a regular game when you win. However, the 15,000 pucks was nice. I bought another Varlamov and ranked him up to 99ov... lol, he's wicked.

And every home game, I make players sit through a banner raising.

As well, you get an "Elite Playoff Champ" logo on the ice (similar to the face-off logo from earlier this year... in the same spot).

Anyway, I still don't understand who makes what playoffs and why if someone quits in a tourney you don't get the W.

Full dates tweak player ratings and the like and are found under update rosters. Online rosters I have to go into a online game and then punk out on the dude if I want the 'new' rosters offline. There is no tweaking of status. Hence not a full update.

Well, this game has been collecting dust since about 2 weeks after I got it, and judging from the reaction here, it remian doing that. Good thing NCAA is still keeping me intersted. My plan was to go back to NHL if I got bored, but I may just go back to The Show. The only reason I stopped playing that is just the fact that being married and having two small kids means I can't get through a seaosn without simming 2/3 of the games.

Joborule can correct me if i'm wrong but i think it's because there was no other player available to play at that moment so the autosearch just finds whoever is looking for a game as well. The player could be just searching for a single game and wasn't even in a tournament at all. I've played in online tourneys where the team I'm playing against didn't meet the criteria(i.e. team has to be 4 stars). Also, I've played the same team twice in the same tournament before.

Side Note: A week ago, I sold my Kipper with 0 games left. However, when I take a look at hte card in the "sold" submenu in the trading menu, it said that Kipper has 6345342029 games left...I took a picture with my cell phone and will update shortly..I really really hope some people out there aren't hacking HUT.

Ah, our definitions of roster updates are different. Majority of these updates are going to be about tweaking lineups and injured players. They're schedule to release them every two weeks, so only several of them over intervals of the season will adjust player ratings and be an actual full update by your definition. What this update did was the former alone.

The reason the roster 'update' isn't on the menu page for all to download without having to go into a game is due to a bug that should be addressed in the patch (which is currently due out on November 9th).

Honestly, I think that's the case for the most part. Your placed in a division, but your matchups can be with anyone in any type of division and any round placement. Not sure if someone doing a regular game can get matchup into a playoff matchup.

Jobo have you seen any "glitched" cards like the Kipper that I mentioned previously?

Sadly, I kind of gave up on NHL 11 a couple of weeks after its release.

I realize there were gameplay tweaks and HUT was interesting for a few games, but overall the game was just too much like NHL 10 for me to find it all that interesting. Be a GM is still just broken, and Be a Pro is interesting for about 10 games before you realize it's empty menu option attached to position lock.

If they don't make some major changes next year, I'm done with this series, and that's coming from a guy who has purchased EA's NHL games every year since the very first one.

I've actually gone back to playing EHM NHL 2007 again. That's a game I can spend a huge number of hours on and never get bored.

Man I wish they would combine the gameplay of the NHL series with the engine of the EHM series.

Alas, my dream will never be realized.

Perhaps due to the perceived lengthy delay I got my hopes us. Allegedly my roommate tells me that they adjusted Paajarvi's stats and changed his name so he's happy.

I think he's happy because he gets to play my PS3 and NHL11 more than I do. But I digress.

Is anybody else having issues using a headset? I play the first game (online vs) online and it works fine. I can't play a second game and have it work without rebooting the PS3. It's rather frustrating.
