They don't even have it available in my area yet (Prince George), so no line-ups!
It won't be available here until November 2nd (for high-risk people). My role call won't be until November 16th, unless I jump in and pretend I am high risk like so many people seem to be doing.
I don't know the schedule for the rest of the province, but here is the one for my crappy little corner:
http://www.northernhealth.ca/Your_He...rgeclinics.asp
Considering that they are saying the flu will peak in October and fall off in November, I wonder if it will even be worth it by then.

That is a very good question. Unfortunately, at the moment we are dealing with a vaccine shortage. We have been told by our doctors that they have no more vaccines in stock and are waiting for more shipments. In one case we were told this could take until December. Several vaccination locations have been temporarily closed because of lack of stock.
Most Americans (I am Canadian) I speak with will get the vaccine (this may have to do with where I work and the education of these people just kidding) and at the moment as you have stated they do not have a choice, in terms of adjuvanted or not.
To answer your question I would accept either vaccine; which ever is available first in my case.

So, not sure if creating a new thread/poll for this is appropriate, but I am wondering, how many Cp'ers have actually gotten the H1N1 vaccination, and has anyone had an adverse reaction?

I got the shot on Monday.
I've been urinating Mercury for the past 2 days, and when somebody dropped the toothpicks in the kitchen at the office the other day, I blurted out "352" almost instantaneously.

I got the vaccination on Monday. Today I'm feeling a little off. A bit of a runny nose, very low grade fever, had diahrea this morning, a bit tired but no muscle aches.
Actually I think I might just be coming down with a cold.

A good Q&A with Dr. Michael Gardam of the Ontario Agency of Health Protection and Promotion.
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/...rticle1340101/
Here are a couple answers to items brought up in this thread:
Q: Should I be concerned about GBS? Also why can children under 6 months not get the vaccine for H1N1?
A: Six month olds aren't vaccinated because it doesn't work, their immune system is too young to respond to the vaccine. That is why we recommend those around them get vaccinated.
GBS (Guillan Barre syndrome) was associated with the swine flu vaccine in 1976 and never since. An association does not mean that it was caused by the vaccine, only that they were associated (like saying that umbrellas are associated with rain, doesn't mean they cause rain). The association that year was a possible increase of 1 case per 100 000 people vaccinated. Please note:
1) that is pretty small;
2) the risk of getting GBS from having natural flu infection is greater than that;
3) the risk of serious complications from the flu is much greater than that; and
4) Most cases of GBS are actually caused by infections including food poisoning. So GBS, like the adjuvant and thimerosol, are red herrings.
Q: There is so much controversy about the vaccine - in fact, several friends' doctors advised them not to get the vaccine for themselves or their young children. I am surprised at this but don't know why their doctors are advising that. It makes me even more nervous to hear that and even though my own doctor advised me to get the vaccine, I am confused. What are people afraid of?
A: As sad as it is for me to type this, not all doctors know what they are talking about. Much of our education has actually been aimed at doctors to make sure that they have the facts straight. There is almost no reason why somebody shouldn't get vaccinated ... it all comes down to whether you want to prevent yourself from getting the flu.

So you people who got the shot on Monday, do you fall into the higher risk category or were you just there to make sure the pregnant women, kids and people with bad immune systems had to wait for 8 hours to get a shot??

Does it bug you that so many people who are supposed to be waiting are both going and trying to make everyone else go immediately as well?
I just think that there could be some people who are high risk and may not go because of the line-ups... especially if they have chronic pain or discomfort.

I just got back from getting mine. They outright asked people if they had a a chronic condition. If they said "no", they sent them home. However there's no way to disprove someone's medical history, so a lie is all that is needed.

So now people are lying and taking someone who may need it more. Nice!
If I go get mine can I push an old lady out of the front of the line?

I'm living with a pregnant woman who is waiting for the non-adjuvant version, so I thought getting it would be prudent.

Nah, I believe in natural selection. If I get it, and it kills me off, then I wasn't met to survive. Fortunately I haven't passed my possibly defective DNA on to the next generation yet.

Got my shot today in High River. Showed up at 11:30 in the morning and was out in an hour. If you hate long lines High River is the place to get your H1N1 shot.

The wife and kids and I went to the Whitehorn clinic this morning. We got there just after 8:00. We waited outside for about 25 minutes before the clinic opened up but they have plenty of room to wait inside (once the clinic is open, that is). The total wait time including waiting for the clinic to open was just under two hours.
I was in no hurry to get vaccinated until my wife told me about our neighbours. My wife goes over there once a week or so for scrapbooking or for kids' playdates. In less than two hours, our neighbour went from feelin' fine to quite ill. She had a sudden onsent of fever, nausea and headaches. That spooked my wife and she basically made me get the shot today.
