At this rate there is a pretty good chance he goes pro next season, no? He can continue working on his game/strength with the Wranglers, there's not much else to prove in the NCAA if he wins the Hobey. Based on his interview where he says he wants to "play with the flames in 1-2 years", he has to be considering it.

Wranglers play twice as many games as the NCAA, so there's subtantially less time for off ice strength training in season.

I do think he goes pro though. As much as his game will benefit from more strength/power, he is also going to need a higher level of competition to keep improving.

And from Wyttenbach's perspective, he will want to make a pro impact ASAP with so many other young wingers in the pro ranks (Gridin already in the NHL, Suniev/Basha/Battaglia/Honzek/Stromgren all competing for callups and top AHL minutes).

Flames seem to take a lot of input from the player. They may just leave it up to the player and his agent whether Wyttenbach turns pro now or in a year.

For the playoffs, they first have the ECAC tournament. The ECAC tournament has the same structure as the Olympics, there are 12 total teams, who all qualify for the postseason. The top-4 teams gets byes to the quarterfinals and the bottom 8 play a qualifying round to get into the quarterfinals. Quinnipiac is at the top of the ECAC standings and will get a bye to the QF.

The ECAC QF is a best of 3 series, and the semifinal and final are single elimination. Depending on how they do, they'll play a minimum of 2 games and a maximum of 5 games in the ECAC tournament.

They also have a very high probability of getting an invite to the national tournament, which is single elimination, minimum of 1 game and maximum of 4.

He could play anywhere from 3 to 9 additional games in the postseason.

I don't think the weight room is as big of an issue with him as it with other players that enter NCAA 155 to 165. If he is playing over 180lbs right now he probably isn't far off from his NHL playing weight.
