You could say 'forces his hand', or you could say 'highly motivates him'!

Huge motivation for him to sign with the team he is traded to - 8 years is a big difference vs 6 (walking to free agency), especially when you are talking about his 36 and 37 YO seasons.

More than likely he stays until the TDL and they get a 1st from a contender, maybe an additional B prospect if he had a good year

Except it’s not pessimistic. FAs return the most at the TDL. Team would have hard time giving up a good pick at the draft.

I know Montreal did today but Dobson is better and had a much better year
