Might be a blessing in disguise not seeing them get lit up in the playoffs which could hurt a young goalie's confidence. Really needed a save there in the last 5 tonight, thinking Wolf might be mentally fatigued at this point.

Ya and it's not like Vladar has been playing bad either. Still though, good to get the reps in now in a mostly meaningless season then to have this sort of pressure on his shoulder when we're supposed to be contenders. I'm hopeful this year will help him long term.

Should've been a Vladar game with ZP on PP2
|
Lol give me a break. They have had a night off between every game lately, they should be riding their best goaltender at this time of the season.

GOAT!

Huberdeau, all alone 20 feet in front of the net in the dying seconds, shoots it wide.
Backlund falls down in OT while trying to skate with the puck, and it ends up in our net.
...but people are worried that Parekh might make a mistake.

This team is cursed. Being a fan is agonizing. See you all in October.

Oh crikey, it was a little jab at some of the coach complainers on here. C'mon.

Huska wears the horns tonight for sure
Denies ZP
Too many consecutive Wolf starts
Doesn't take time out after 3-2

No he wasn't.
Just watched it again. It's Kadri-Huberdeau-Klapka-Hanley-Weegar on the ice.
Kadri and Hanley make the poor reads that lead to the defensive breakdown.

Some people are awfully hard on wolf. He could develop into a superstar.

And grease pigs/blues likely heading to OT. Just another FU from the hockey gods to flames fans.

Exactly this is the part that gets me whenever people talk about “how much better the NHL is than the AHL or CHL” or whenever they talk about prioritizing vets over younger hungrier players.
a) vets make mistakes too. Lots of them. All the time.
b) young players are motivated to get the big paycheques. Vets already have them. Human nature to be that step lazier and a little less motivated each and every game.
Vets get free passes on mistakes. Totally overlooked by everyone all the time just because of a name.

The Flames are/were one of the very worst possession teams in the league.
They have exactly one reason they have as many points as they do, Dustin Wolf.
This team is probably San Jose level bad without him. They do not deserve to be in the playoffs and I'm glad we don't have to get embarrassed watching them get demolished.
Time for next season and hopefully some reinforcements or some young player progression because this team ain't it.
