Allowed us to preserve the waivers exemptions on the 2 young guys, and while both have only played 1 game, they've each looked great.
Drink whatever koolaid you need to, you aren’t making the playoffs this year because of poor goaltending, and the same will happen next year again if you don’t fill that #1 position. And no, Jake “close enough to Hasek” Allen isn’t that guy. But if you believe he is, I hope you keep him and miss again lol.

With the current injuries of this year the team is not going for a cup.
But yeah, we should have given up our 1st+ for checks notes again, Markstrom who hasn't been good over the last month of games and is now injured.

We both have 0 control over what happens here, and honestly with both of our egos we could never make a trade. But we’ll see why happens, the Devils need to spend an enormous cost for 1 of the top 3 goalies available or else playoffs will be missed again. That isn’t something that should happen with their young and elite core. Honestly I don’t care if Markstrom is traded, I enjoy watching him as our goalie.
The flames aren’t expected to make the playoffs for a few years and that’s OK, NJ and ####zgerald are in a different position. Markstrom has a cost and your playoff hopes hinge on it. That’s your dumbass GMs view.
In a slightly related note, what do you think Jack Hughes hits from 150 yards out? Is he elite with a PW?

NJD made the playoffs without an elite goalie last year. But yep, we NEED Markstrom, who has actively harmed the Flames and been a reason why they missed the playoffs in 20-21 and 22-23.
If a goalie is available at the right price, Fitz will make the move.
If not, other needs will be addressed, such as the bottom 6 and an LD.
Glad to hear you're confident that NJD can make the playoffs next year without adding a goalie.
You’ll ride him for 41 games because Fitz is too much of a dumbass to figure out his goaltending and then trade him to a contender at the deadline who needs a backup for a 7th.
Then you’ll clap like a seal and say “Dumping 2 months of Allen’s contract and getting a 7th is the same as the value of upgrading a 3rd to a 2nd so we come out even AnD wE dIDnT eVEN hAvE 2 tRAdE 4 mArKstRoM” while you miss the playoffs again because your team is terrible.
I wonder if any NHL teams take a look at signing Nikolay Goldobin. 78 points in 67 KHL games, still only 27 years old. He had half a point per game in the NHL when he was 22 years old. It looks like he has since improved quite a bit.
I always thought he had the talent to play in the bigs. Other factors pushed him out.
Maybe he is ready for another shot?!

The only team that will continue to take your goalies for a second time is tanking.
Sure keep on racing that “Ferrari” on flat tires, just pay to get a few donuts on there should do.

I would like to congratulate you on your Stanley cup victory last year as I was unaware you won it. You don’t need Markstrom, you need Markstrom, Ullmark, Swayman or Saros. Or don’t, I don’t care. Hey does Holtz have an elite golf swing to go along with his elite shot lol.
No team is winning anything in front of Allen and anybody else currently in the NJ org's crease.
But you're welcome to learn the hard way just like the Oilers have just to keep your pride pretending you don't need a goalie like Marky.
Seems you'd rather piss years of losing away believing you're right than win.
That's the Kevin Lowe/decade of darkness school of thought.
Someone pointed out on the radio today that the difference between Marsktrom and NJ's goals saved above/below expected, that he would potentially save them 40 goals against.
Where would the Devils be if they had 40 less goals against?
But you don't need a goalie like him, and he ain't worth much. Hilarious.

You do you, Kevin.
Again, no idea who these random names you seem to think I am are.
Yes, if NJD were to have been the only team to see the future and predict Markstrom to go from below average to elite at age 34 and traded for him in the offseason, they would have been in a fantastic spot.
If they traded for him when Markstrom was actually on the market however, it appears that it would have, at least so far, been a disaster with Markstrom again sporting a 0.878, negative GSAx, and then getting injured.
Markstrom, as I keep trying to explain, is no guarantee of elite goaltending for NJD going forward. Goaltenders are the least predictable position when they change teams, and in general the most volatile himself.
As I've said, let's look at markstrom himself. Top 5 vezina voting. Up and coming calgary signs him for 6 mill. Goalie problems solved right??
Nope, 20-21, Markstrom plays like #### and Calgary misses the playoffs.
Then elite in 21-22, but FELL apart in the playoffs vs edmonton
Then back to below average in 22-23, causing calgary to miss the playoffs.
Now, at age 34, he has a fantastic season. (not so much the last month tho).
