Giroux is a great example but the Panthers were on their way to the president’s trophy all but confirming it to be a 25th or later pick. Columbus likely is reading the 10th-17th pick in addition to the top prospect. Tippet has worked out well for the Flyers though and I hope the Flames can get a similar impact piece for Lindholm.
If it were Lindholm for Johnson 1 for 1 I take it. Or take back any expiring salary the Jackets want in addition if needed to make the cap work. I feel like that is the exact type of transaction this organization would seek as well since the payoff could be much quicker than if a pick were on the table

If Columbus trades for Lindholm they will sign him to an extension, I don't see anyone trading for him as a rental, especially Columbus. Jets fans didn't think they would get as much as they did for PLD. Hell, this board there were lots of posters who thought we would get a late 1st and a cap dump for Tkachuk..Look at what Duchesne got when the Avs traded him? There is always fans in a fanbase who are pessimistic about their own players values.

Doesn't sound like Johnson will be traded the move was made before his confidence was destroyed.

Same as there’s fans who overvalue what they have and then bemoan they got fleeced when most trades get announced. Goes both ways.

That could be the teams preference but the agency change can’t be ignored.

That package would be fine for me. Tippet was a 21 year old former 10th overall pick, the Florida pick was in 2024 or 2025 so the pick could be much higher than 25th overall. Some package like that would work for me for the Flames too
Lindholm for a top prospect and a 1st round pick in 2025 and a 3rd round pick.

That was then. Every season and TD is different and you need the right set of conditions for the magic to happy. Through the last draft, offseason and early season the conditions have not been there.
I'm not pessimistic. I think Conroy would do a good deal in heartbeat if he could. It's just not there.
Hopefully it is there by TD, but it might not be and that's pretty scary for fans. The pessimism is a coping mechanism.

My bad I thought it was their 2022 pick but that might have been in the Reinhart trade. Zito sure has burned through a lot of picks.

Tkachuk, Reinhart, Bennett, Montour, were all solid trades though.

Was there ever any report or indication that Treliving even wanted to rebuild? Edwards seems to take all the heat for that, but I wouldn't be surprised if Treliving never even tried to raise the issue.

Yeah I wouldn't be supprised if this was the case and Tre wanted to avoid rebuilding as well.
Tre rebuilding would of been admitting failure of his tenure up to that point.

I never bought into the argument that Treliving was being forced into a direction that was different than what he wanted. Or any of the GM's before him for that matter.
He was trying to win. He thought he was getting good value for the picks he traded and the guys he signed.
