He made a pretty great play on the PP. It almost ended up as a Coronato goal.

Hrudey generally has good insight. But sometimes he comments on a player not being able to elevate a puck, when it was a miracle that they were able to tap it towards the net at all. I’m not sure he understands the player perspective of net-front battles. Only thinks as a goalie there

Markstrom the best Flame so far. Looks like an elite goalie again.

Flames gotta figure this out. How do you go from creativity-stifling defensive structure to NO defensive structure whatsoever…??
Can you step back from the ledge for a hot minute? It's game one with a NEW system, give the team time to gel.

Sad to say but Tanev just isn't the same player he was 2 years ago. He's just got so much mileage on him with the way he plays. I think he's a 3rd pairing guy now.

Scoring chances at 5v5 tonight are 27–5 WPG, via Natural Stat Trick.

Markstrom has been earning his paycheque and then some.

He's telling it from a Winnipeg fan perspective, hence the "ooo, just couldn't elevate it"

I could…if I understood what the “new system” was supposed to be…

Agreed they're getting outplayed, PK has done great so far though, for another positive.

From very tight man coverage to zone coverage. But old habits die hard, resulting in players getting out of position, collisions, etc. No active sticks, but I assume that’s because they’re thinking too much. Will hopefully improve over the first 20 games without too much damage in the standings.
