This is also the downside of doing a live-action version of a cartoon that skirts through lore from books that are a couple decades old.
You paint yourself into a corner with all this crap. People need to watch Clone Wars, read the Dark Empire trilogy and seen all of Rebels?
This is garbage. You want to tell a story? Get a pencil, sit down, and write something original.

100 percent agree. That's what happens when a mega corp care more about content than art.

I mean, Clone Wars and Rebels? Thats like 11 years of content. Ain't nobody got time for that....do you even consider the VAST demographic of people you are essentially excluding from your show because they have no idea who these people are, what their motivations are and what they're doing?
And you've spent next to ZERO time in your show actually explaining it?
Thats why I referred to this show as a Filoni masturbation fantasy rather than an actual show that actual fans can actually enjoy. This whole thing was for Dave.
Star Wars falls into this trap all the goddamned time and its a pain in the ass.
And I'll tell you. I'm in the minority. I've seen the Clone Wars. I've watched Rebels. I've read the Heir to the Empire Trilogy.
And this show still sucked.

I find it funny that the SW fanboys on YouTube who've read all the comics, watched all the shows and read all the EU books aren't fans of Andor. I'm getting the sense that it's because it was directed by a guy who knew nothing about the universe and did his own thing without sprinkling in lore easter eggs for the hardcores. He changed up the tone, and made a gritty, slow burn, adult show in space. And it was good. But not "Star Wars" enough for them, but I think it's been the most Star Wars in tone in quite some time, just without the winks these people live for.
Meanwhile they're trying hard to convince themselves they liked this teeny bopper live action show because it had the references that they can geek out over, even though the execution was lackluster, lazily written and Disney-stamped. They're basing most of their arguments on the potential of what it sets up. But if the same people are behind the upcoming material and film, I don't see how it's going to live up to their expectations at all. Filoni and co aren't taking enough risks to elevate this content from watchable to great and they aren't doing a good job of making their protagonists interesting or enjoyable.
I think (due entirely to Ray Stevenson's acting) they hit a home run with Baylan, but they won't be able to continue with the most interesting character in the show, which will hurt it in a big way going forward.

I presume it's too early for news but are there any rumors of an actor to replace him yet?

I've read of Liev Schreiber (I think on a Star Wars reddit forum).

If you're going to make a clown show you may as well employ the biggest clown.

I finished up Star Wars Rebels last night, and think I figured out what happened here.
They couldn't call the Live Action show "Rebels" so they renamed it "Ahsoka".
The fact is, the vast vast majority of the show doesn't involve Ahsoka. She was barely in the Rebels cartoon, and so when they wrote up this live action show, she was probably a minor character.
Then some marketing person realized, nobody gives 2 shots about Rebels (which is for tweens, and doesn't really do anything well, even in the compressed season 4, which I assume was compressed because the show was so lackluster), and you could at least attract some attention through the title "Ahsoka" because Clone Wars for it's flaws, lasted 10 years or whatever.
So they shoehorned her in, and changed the title. This is all speculative, but really even just watching it without that...this show isn't about her.
She has a couple fight scenes where she's "rescued" after failing to defeat her opponent. She talks to a whale. She hides and runs away a lot?
The Annikan fantasy scene is totally unrelated plot wise to the rest of the show. Like - was this added in to try to make SOMETHING specific to Ahsoka?
I think Disney shot their wad trying to make Rebels, realized it wouldn't work, and then plonked in a few Ahsoka specific scenes and renamed the show.

Meh. It was fine. Also didn't really like Rosario's Ahsoka. They as usual had an opportunity to do something really different with her and just didn't. Same with Sabine - it would be kind of neat to have an apprentice who actually struggles with the force and isnt immediately god-like for no reason (yawn, Rey) but the show wasn't about that either... Thrawn is pretty awesome, but the whole "we cannot possibly stop these two children and one Jedi, we can only hope to slow them down" thing was silly. I like Baylan, but this Mortis gods / Abeloth bull crap is the exact reason the EU was rightly purged - it is extremely cheesy and lame.
Basically I thought the show was mostly entertaining but didn't like a lot of the story choices made.

I think the most questionable decision for me was making Sabine a Force user. There was something cool about showing that the Mandalorian's didn't need the force to battle the Jedi, though as Kanan said "News flash, you lost that war".
Having someone that had to use guile and firepower to knock off a jedi was cool to me, and having Sabine as someone that was sneaky and cocky and could fix a problem in the real world just works.
We saw what happened though when Sabine took a shot at someone like Vader.
Instead they made her force sensitive to solve some problems at the end of season one and to create angst with Ahsoka that was really kind of unnecessary.
I don't mind if they're bringing Abeloth in to the Disney Canon. The problem in the legends EU is that so many writers used the Jedi and the force as the ultimate out to writing problems. Have a huge imperial fleet with a super star destroyer at its head attacking the Jedi academy, have a bunch of students mutter "Size Matters not" and push the fleet out of the system. Need to do something cool have a Jedi pull a Star Destroyer out of the sky.
So what's the solution, bring a force god in that over powers the mega powerful Luke and Skywalker family. And they did a decent job with Abeloth as a credible threat. She could walk between realities. The EU had their own world between worlds with the world beyond shadows. You could have Abeloth take shapes of other people and multiple people at the same time. Have her consume Force users. these were all there and they created a uber being that Luke couldn't defeat on his own.
I fully expect that if they do bring in Abeloth the logical thing would be that Baylan awakens her, and at some point she possesses Shin who becomes the big bad of the season. And this is speculations, but Ahsoka eventually becomes the sister figure Shin becomes the brother figure and Anakin becomes the father figure and the force gets balanced.
But that's just speculation.
Overall this was a mixed season, episode 7 and 8 were a mess. Rosario wasn't great, but its because I have expectations of the Ahsoka character based on TCW and Rebels. The actress that played Sabine was kinda wooden.
I loved the re-entry of Anakin who has been redeeming himself with his performance of Anakin. MEW was great as Hera as was the training droid, and seeing Live action Chopper yes please all day long even though he was short of ahole moments.
I did like the continuation of the sneaky Imperials corrupting the Republic as well. I think that could be an interesting storyline on its own though it leads to the awful sequels.
I expect that next season will focus more on Ashoka and Sabine and Baylan and Shin and leave the Ezra republic stuff of another series or movie.
