I don’t understand why so many Flames fans are so excited about Tkachuk right now. Guy never delivered here. Maybe it’s just me, but I find zero satisfaction in watching him be a monster, Conn Smythe candidate with the Panthers when he was mostly a no-show in the playoffs as a Flame. Maybe I’m just bitter

You are, channel your negative energy to management because you would have done exactly the same thing in his shoes.

That’s fault. He did delivered here.
100 point season. Almost point per game on secondary lines.
Playoffs were not great but so was everybody else.
Honestly I don’t care if he or Florida are winning now but I don’t hate him like some people
Pretty cool article on keeping the players going during long games
Quote:
The longest game in playoff history was March 24, 1936, when the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Montreal Maroons 1-0 in the sixth overtime (116:30) in Game 1 of the NHL Semifinals. During intermissions of that game, players were sipping tea and coffee laced with brandy, then lying on benches to improve circulation, according to reports at the time.
The approach has changed radically since that historic overtime. It's had to do so to meet the demands of athletes who play the game in a way that the pioneers of the sport couldn't imagine, putting stress on their bodies that is unfathomable to anyone other than an elite athlete.

I was very anti Tkachuk/Gaudreau before the season; vocally hoping they'd lose every game. Full fledged bitter.
But as the year went on and we know more & more about how toxic the Flames organization is; I don't really blame them anymore.
Life's too short to hold a grudge against random guys I don't even know. I'm just enjoying it now and fully on the Florida bandwagon.
It's just a game & our organization is stupid so they can have my bitterness instead.

I wonder how recovery changes for the visiting team versus the home team after a long OT game like that. I’m guessing Florida can just sleep in the hotel room without much distraction, whereas Carolina have the “comforts” of home.
Sets up an interesting Game 2, Florida is 7-1 on the road in the playoffs (only loss was in Game 1 against Boston).
I have nothing against someone going and living their best life. The Flames look bad out of all this, but not the guys who got traded away. Also, I find the joy in sports is more about witnessing and cheering on excellence, and tribalism doesn't do a lot for me, especially when it's basically tribalism built around what is just a commercial brand.

That’s a weak call. Aho headlocks Bennett and messes his helmet up allowing him to escape in the first place. Calling one and not the other shows a clear bias.
What does age have to do with it, I'm 60 and I don't hold a thing against Chucky, Treliving/ownership caused this mess.
I hope he wins the cup
I hope he and Bennett win the cup too. Maybe this garbage organization will learn a lesson from it. I doubt it, though.
For now, people will still fill ownership’s pockets for the worst product in the league, but a man can hope. At some point the results have to catch up with the revenue.
