Sorry, but this sounds like dog-whistling 'THE GREATER GOOD!'

While ignoring the people it affects directly because she is cluelessly disconnected.

I'll admit though, she's not wrong. It doesnt affect shipping companies with EV fleets as much.

What percentage of the market do they make up?

Too many Brown members for the Conservative Party I guess. Threw off the normal equilibrium.

I would imagine that number is very, very, very low in comparison.

Self driving EVs (such as semis, vans, etc) for shipping purposes would be an amazing boost for the economy. But we are 5+ years away from that being a reality. Heck, maybe saying 5+ is Elon Musk talk. It could be 10+.

The amount of battery development and manufacturing needed to be able to replace our shipping fleets with EVs would be insane. Every single EV manufacturer is struggling just getting normal vehicles built, and right now there is crazy demand for EVs from consumers.

Given the information access you'd think she has access too in regards to EV development, one does wonder how bloody stupid you have to be to talk to that in one of the bigger logistical and shipping based areas in Canada. Tone deaf is a nice way of putting it.

The 'true blue' type conservatives really disliked Brown for being more moderate. He didn't seem to have much of a chance though. Second time he's been derailed with a scandal though.

She said - we have to move quicker on climate action so we don't have to be at the whims of Russia/Middle East actions in terms of oil prices. Its not wrong.

She could/should have said - we feel your pain, it sucks.. damn Russia for starting a war and damn us for not building pipelines. But I'm not sure that's going to make anyone feel better.

I will also say - I don't think many in Brampton is particularly worried about fuel prices because they are a shipping/logistics based area. They are just pissed because it costs more to fuel their car.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alberta/article-pierre-poilievre-skips-calgary-leadership-debate-will-attend-party/

So Pierre is skipping a leadership debate to whoop it up with Brett Wilson. The leadership debate is run by The Western Standard. Candidates should never have agreed to anything organized by a group of deceitful liars pretending to be media hellbent on tearing our country apart. What are they thinking? Remember The WS spent months lying about covid, the convoy, and cheering on the illegal border blockades.

This timeline is ####ing garbage. Can we get a reset on the whole Conservative movement thing? This takeover by the far right is nauseating. Conservatives must really really enjoy seeing the Liberals in power, because they are assuring it.

Scandal? Maybe, but it sounds a lot like the CBC finds him inconvenient to the Pierre Party, and is playing dirty games.

This is surprising. Anyone have some insight on what is going on?

Pretty vague article.

Doesn't actually speak about the issues at hand.

No confidence in a perpetually scandal embroiled Boris Johnson. What is the relevance to Canadian federal politics?

Was wondering the same thing. Read through some tweets and the article waiting for the mention of something related to Canada lol. Instead it’s just some vague “UK politics being UK politics” thing?

Patrick Brown learned on social media that he was no longer in the race. With him gone, that means that the party moves to the right, and is pretty much unelectable in a general election. Big win for the Liberal Party.

Quote:
Patrick Brown has been disqualified from the federal Conservative leadership race, after ballots have already begun to be mailed out, and his campaign is fighting back against what it calls anonymous allegations.

“This is reprehensible, undemocratic behaviour that breaks faith with hundreds of thousands of Canadians that embraced Patrick Brown's vision of a modern, inclusive Conservative party,” his campaign said in a written statement early Wednesday morning.

“This is an indictment of the (Conservative Party of Canada), and a party that is not serious about winning a general election,” the Brown campaign continued. “It is an embarrassment. But, not for us.”

It's a party leadership race, they aren't democratic, stop calling them democratic. They run under whatever rules the part wants them to run under.

It really bugs me that parties call their leadership races and policy conversations are called democratic. The leadership races run under rules that are made up and often ignored whenever the party leadership wants to or is heavily enforced when they want to.

The policy conversations by their nature also cater to who can show up, which tend to be the more extreme wings of the parties as originations like churches, unions, and other special interests cover costs if time off is needed.

Patrick Brown doing something sleazy / unethical, what a shock.

Also I think this hurts Poilievre's chances as it removes the split and means the anti-PP red Tory vote will coalesce around Charest.

Isn't it a ranked choice thing where the last place candidate gets tossed out each round?

I am not a Poilievre fan but I think he has all but sewn up the CPC leadership spot. Seems like he has quite a bit of momentum behind him.

This is going to shape up to be a very nasty and public fight after watching Brown's interview with Evan Soloman this morning that came across with accusations of party corruption, and the leadership of the conservative party being in the pocket of PP.

Since Brown has no recourse as I understand that there is no appeals process, once you're out you're out, that he's going to sue the s$$$ out of the party.

I would agree with this, Charest's campaign has been pretty quiet lately.
