Hockey is extremely stochastic. The most of all the sports. Hockey has a lot of negative nellies because the randomness allows that. You can build a great team and lose a series because of something totally out of their control.

Not sure if you've read The Success Equation. It's a recent book on luck vs skill.

I don't know. It seemed to me watching that the Flames were not doing well in generating chances. Then I log onto the site and Bingo shows that they are generating a lot but not a lot is going in. I add to that Sutter saying the same thing in his media availability. Suddenly, I wonder if rather than them no generating changes I am reacting emotionally to them not scoring and that is messing with my perception - i.e. my perception that they are not generating much. I found the facts quite helpful.

It was a monster game and perhaps a destiny-altering game from them. Huge relief for every one here. I don't know if I would've been able to live with this team having a season like that and not translating it to POs, thank god it did before it was too late.

Just need them to carry it over twice more, then we can really start getting excited for real.

I don't consider it a playoff run unless it's multiple rounds.


Also I'm not gonna lie.. I'd be so hyped for a BOA playoff series.

I think it would be good for the sport. Every hockey fan outside of LA and Dallas wants it, you would think.

Nothing wrong with holding people accountable. I didn't say that. I disagree in the manner in which djsflames did it. He did it in a way to attack the poster just as much as what the poster had said. You can hold people accountable without putting them on a wall of shame.

Taking out usernames takes a bit of extra work and detracts a bit from the fun I think, but I'll let the powers that be advise me next time if it's needed.

That's a lazy response. It doesn't take much to copy and paste the outlandish remarks to an open document and then paste them into your post later on.

What is so fun about shaming people though? I find your wall of shame to be mean spirited and conducive to division among fellow Flames fans. We're not all going to see eye to eye and if you see something you don't like try to attack it in a constructive manner. I don't understand how shaming posters is constructive.

Posting quotes that people wrote an hour or two ago is attacking? If someone posts that "Player X" sucks and should be benched but then the player scores the game winning goal, that deserves to be posted. Hell, if I posted it I would probably bump it myself.

This is basically that, except without singling out one person and everybody being treated as fair game. No one is being attacked. Many actually want to be a subject of the roast, in fact.

And you're not even using your real name. So unless you care very, very deeply about the reputation of "Buff" on a forum where you knowingly have written embarrassing things time and time again for every one to have read at some point (and we can literally pull up your posting history any time in two clicks) then well.....

Maybe its motivation to clean up your posts a bit?
