I just received the same update. For all we know it could go a lot faster but we also have a stat. holiday thrown into the mix. Given the speed at which things are going plus that, the 12th sounds pretty reasonable.
With that being said, the status update is "Shipment information sent to FedEx" which is typically the
first status you usually get...not something after the thing is moving. Again, this makes it seem that the consoles shipped in big quantities and are now probably somewhere local and then getting dished out from that local distribution point.
I also have no idea what I'm taking about - these are just guesses to make me feel better.
Need to figure out how to get rid of my Xbox One X now.

I imagine there should be some stock in stores. Sony is the only company that said there will
not be stock available in stores and all availability will be online only.
