Jesus from some of the posts earlier today you would think the Flames are some corner gas who have no idea how to handle serious business and personnel issues.

I posted that in response to this tweet where he made it clear they hadn't made a decision in either direction. Not sure if it was before or after the corroborating reports came out from the other two players.
Treliving tells TSN that nothing has been determined yet
Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
#Flames GM Brad Treliving tells #TSN that no determination has been made on Bill Peters' job status at the moment. Peters is not on the ice for practice.

This ^^^, for the people who don't understand either employment or contract law.
Any given organization CAN do whatever it wants (and to be fair, I have no idea whether coaches are considered employees or contractors - and the rules for each are substantially different). What is NOT different is the effect if the contract/employment is not terminated in an effective manner.
If so, the employer (or prime contractor) is going to pay - either for wrongful dismissal (employment) or wrongful termination of the contract (contractor).
One way or another, there is a HUGE amount of due diligence required - and even then one may fail. I've been doing that stuff for around 40 years and have seen a few go off the rails when mishandled, costing the payor considerable amounts of money. It's not easy, and nowadays employment law is more complex than ever.
The proper course is temporary suspension with pay...investigation and only then, if warranted, termination. No leaks, no comments, no justification and ultimately, no discussion in public.
Don't be surprised if the Flames terminate the coach and simply say something like "We have terminated Peters' contract and he's been relieved of all duties. We have nothing further to say about it. Our go-forward plan is...."
(The reality is that we may never know if he did or didn't do or say the things which have been alleged.)

Edwards probably told Tre, void that contract and we will pay for Daryl. Don’t void it and Ward is the coach.

Either way, I bet they wish they'd fired him last week for performance issues. It may have cost them more money but it would be over with.

Also, Bill Peters isn't going to be getting a job as a music critic any time soon.

I really doubt that Darryl Sutter is coming in.

I dunno I feel like there could be two sides to this. These unions can have so many conflicts of interest that they forget why they exist in the first place. I’ve heard lots of damning stories about the PA. Issues brought through that channel can get lost in red tape and “process”, and can take a very long time to go through it, if it’s effective at all. Part of the power of social media is a “direct to consumer” type approach...where the player can force immediate change without going through all the PA BS. Of course this is absolutely subject to being abused and unfounded accusations etc. It’s a slippery slope.
All in all I don’t have any problem with using social media to get people to take immediate action into proper investigation. As long as due process is enacted at that point. The wrath and pressure of the general public is a very powerful call to action...much more powerful than filing a complaint to bureaucrats behind closed doors.

Anyone remember what was said about Toni Lydman after he was traded post 2004 run? Because Lydman wouldn’t play through a concussion. It was bull#### back then and it still is.
If Peters isn’t gone, I’m gone as a fan. This has me so infuriated.

The hazing stuff is being phased out in all sports and it is about time. There were always a couple veterans that got off on that stuff and it ended up being a code of silence as the ones who got off most from hazing were usually favorites of the coaches so any complaints would have fallen on deaf ears.
I really don't think it is fair to past coaches to pin hazing incidents on them as it needs to fall on the leadership of the players themselves. I really have a tough time believing that Carcillo was not one of the aggressors when he was a vet in junior.
