Lazar heading to Buffalo.
@reporterchris
It sounds like Curtis Lazar will land in Buffalo on a one-way contract after not receiving a qualifying offer from the #flames.

I think a 1st and valimaki would've gotten it done.
Tre on the radio said it was 2019 1st, 2020 1st, valimaki and Andersson.
I don't agree that brannstrom was a more valuable piece than Valimaki. I actually think Calgary had the significantly more valuable asset components in their offer but it meant Ottawa also taking Neal and Ottawa is probably the worst team to deal with in the whole league when it comes to taking back real actual dollars, so the deal couldn't go down.
Does trading Neal in the midst of season 1 look any worse than making him a healthy scratch in game 5 of the playoffs and then buying him out or trading him anyway?
Opportunity cost.

There is virtually no evidence to suggest that Neal was ever part of a trade offer with Ottawa.

Trading him in December 2018 sure as hell does, but it doesn’t really matter considering that he has not yet been moved or bought out. I expect Neal will finish the 2020 season on the Flames roster.

Friedman has a new article on Sportsnet.
Sounds like Pavelski to Dallas
Nashville is in on Duchene but will do something big if they don’t get him

Man, I really dont like Kadri. At all. One of the D bags and his antics I cannot stand. But I guess we dont need everyone to be a boy scout.

I've never been a fan of his either, but we could use a middle 6 centre like him

Kadri improves our 3rd line centre position HUGELY. He’s the best return I can imagine on a Brodie trade.
Monahan
Backlund
Kadri
Ryan
Is fantastic depth.

Hate the guy all you want, but he makes this team better instantly if he finds his way here.

and he’s very much a “hate to play against him, but love to have him” player for me. Competitive.
Yes please.

I would certainly be all for a Kadri trade of the cost was Brodie and maybe Jankowski?

It would have to be a pick if anything else goes to the Leafs...they simply cant add any salary.

Disagree because the Flames can’t add $4.5M in salary either.
If the rumored sweetener to Zaitsev is Brown then they are sending out 6.6M and taking back RFA rights. They can take care of Marner before taking care of Ceci and they gain flexibility in the short term with the Ottawa deal and would fill a need for a top 4 D with the Kadri move. I could see the Leafs also having interest in Bennett if not Brodie.

They wouldnt be adding any salary if it was straight across for Brodie.
