If you are referring to Zucker, he will probably produce more. Frolik has not had a 20 goal season since 2009-2010. I like Frolik. He is a useful third liner, but I wouldn’t have minded another scoring winger in our top 6
Flames are having a great season though, so can’t complain.

^ no, that train has sailed. Until the off season at least. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them come back to Zucker.

I was talking about Neal. People would be pleased if he was producing at Frolik’s pace this year.

(Also I suppose you are technically correct (the best kind of correct) about Fro not having 20 since 2009 but he has had 19, he has had 15 in 64 (a 19 G pace) and this year has 13 in just 47. And seeing duty spread across the bottom nine, not always top 6.)

Completely agree, great year. If Fro keeps chipping in and Neal finds his mojo (like almost everybody else in the bottom 9) , that will be great.

So maybe that train hasn't sailed. Maybe it's still at the dock waiting to be loaded on to a freight vessel.

Friedman reiterated on today's 31 Thoughts Podcast he believes the deal was agreed upon but just didn't get submitted in time.

Mentions Frolik + a high pick for Zucker, not aware if anything else was involved.

So if Treliving was mad, I believe Minnesota messing things up makes the most sense.

It'll be interesting if the trade happens at the draft still, or if Minnesota wants more once the 1st round pick is officially #31...

Must have been some big delay. I understood the league was kinda lenient with those issues.

The more I think about this, the more I wish it had happened.

I like Fro, but I didn't like the whining through his agent he was doing, and Zucker IMO is a much better offensive threat, and improves team speed up front. I think he'd fit in great here.

I have a feeling the draft will be fun/exciting for Flames fans again this year. I really think Tre will be moving a Dman, and also Frolik. If goaltending falters and is the reason the Flames don't achieve their goals, I expect a proven starter will be brought in via trade as well.

Burke said something along the lines of (leading up the deadline) that if the deal was submitted prior to the cutoff, it would be finalized by the league. If the teams miss the cut off by a second, no dice.

So I assume that it wasn't actually submitted on time.

Then again he seems to think they still use fax machines so who knows.

I bet Fenton couldn't figure out the captcha in time!

The clock is counting down and he's struggling to identify fire hydrants and crosswalks.

I'd lean more to if he was mad, he was mad that someone inside his own team didn't execute properly, and the deal got messed up because of poor execution by his own team....as I'm sure BT isn't the one actually sending the faxes or emails or whatever to the league. He probably walked away, figured he'd got it done then someone had to explain an execution error to him would be my guess..............

I don't see why he wouldn't be just as livid if the mistake was on Minnesota's end.

Yeah, with email, it should be pretty automatic. I just remember something about the queue and deals coming in way late (but having met some sort of cutoff). That was probably faxes.

The Wild probably came back with a last second change that delayed it. Or needed owner approval and it wasn't available.

If I remember correctly wasn't it announced before the deadline (Boomers twitter) that they weren't getting Zucker. Wouldn't that mean it was decided before the registry closed that the deal wasn't happening.

I'd be more mad if my own team screwed something up than an outside party.......still mad but I'd feel responsible for the former.

That said, I agree, but seems like everyone seems to be assuming for BT to be mad, it means the Wild messed something up. I think to your point, equally as likely it could be the Flames or the Wild that messed it up.

It was probably Conroy yapping on the phone to Iggy about the retirement ceremony. Didn't notice his coffee was sitting on the trade sheet.
